I am using a D-ILA projector in a room with cathedral ceiling and 6" X 6" beams that tie the walls together, at about a 9' height. The beam closest to my 100" 3 X 4 scree receives a LOT of reflected light from the screen and is very distracting.

Q1: What is the best black material that will absorb the light that I can wrap around the beam? I don't want to paint the beam.

Q2: where can I purchase the material?

Thanks, Don

The cheapest black material I found was trunk liner at a fabric store. Very black and very cheap. I used it for my border on my screen.

The blackest fabric you will find is Fidelio brand black velvet. From nearly any angle it absorbs light very well. It exhibits little if any velvet "sheen" which is seen on other types of velvet.
