Hi everyone.

I plan on getting the Carade masquerade masking system. But have a question how the screen material gets attached.

Lets say I was going for the Stewart StudioTek 130 G3 materal. Do I need to buy stewards fixed frame to hold the screen? Or can Stewards screen button/snap onto the carade system itself.

Im assuming I would need a fixed frame from stewart as well.

I think your assumption is correct - you'll need a fixed frame from Stewart.

I decided to buy both the screen and mask system from Carada. You can see their frame and screen in my First Impressions thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...336&highlight=

You will probably want to ensure the size and position off the wall matches the Carada frame - I'm sure the guys from Carada can help by giving you the appropriate dimensions.

Potential Competition for the Carada CIH
CIH masking
- Somis CIH masking system - AVS link - $1490 (120" diagonal w/base motor - Somis1)

As of 11/19/10 it looks like this projected died off.

Any other updates from people?
Pictures?
Any new purchases?

I'm helping a friend build a HT, but he's going 16:9, and isn't interested in spending much.

When I was planning my HT and investigated masking options, including HTIQ (somis) type systems and DIY solutions I decided that my money would be well spent to get a competent design from a known, professional company - in this case Carada. Sometimes it's simply worth it to open up the purse strings a bit to get a product you can have confidence in and not dick away a significant portion of your life waiting on possible solutions or half-baked items that cause problems.

I couldn't be happier with my Carada Masquerade and if I were going CIH and desired masking I'd get their CIH masking system.

My friend built a HT in his basement.
I gave him samples of multiple screen materials and he picked a Carada BW.
I actually was pushing him slightly toward a Da-Lite HP, but he liked the BW.
Now if I can just see if he wants a Masquerade.
I am on a temporary AV buying halt (?). But the recent "Alice In Wonderland" (and other older titles now on BR) has me re-thinking about it.
Tempting with the Feb Carada free shipping offer.

Well, I have the Carada "Horizontal" masking system. The side masking I employed myself. Here's my Carada Masquerade after it was just put up on the wall, during the installation phase of my home theater renovation.

Masks fully open:

Masks closed as far as they go:

I added another system for side masking to get 4-way automated masking.
Finished room shots:

Many more photos of the building process and finished product to be found in the "Build Thread" link below my name.

Cheers,
