I just found out that Da-Lite will be releasing a new grey screen material called the High Contrast Audio Vision. I have requested the specifications including gain, viewing angle, and sound loss transmission characteristics, as well as a sample of the material. This may be of interest to those looking for a grey screen which they can place speakers behind.

I just received the specs on this new material. Gain is 0.8, viewing angle is 40 degrees, there are 15,120 holes per square foot, light loss is 7-8%, and sound loss is minimal (<1 dB) out to 5 kHz where it then slowly increases to a loss of about 3 dB at 16 kHz and 5 dB at 20 kHz. Sound loss characteristics were determined using pink noise at a level of 81 dB from a distance of 3 feet. This should be easily correctable with a good EQ. I am a little disappointed about the gain. From the sounds of it, this new material is a perfed High Constrast Da-Matt. I will post my opinions of this material once I receive the sample.
