So I honestly did try searching first...and I found a few posts with no answers.

I really can't afford anything more than these 2 brands. I want a electric drop down tab tensioned..

Both these brands are about the same exact price. I will be getting the white version of each. The projector is a 8700U.

I will be sitting about 16 feet away with projector about 14' away.

Is there a clear distinction between the two...

Sorry if this has been answered...but I really really tried looking before I posted.

Thanks,

I assume all these views and no responses means either you don't like my question :-) or nobody has an opinion...

Any help is appreciated.

Not sure of the Elite, but the VApex comes with a wireless 12v trigger - which is pretty cool. Note though that it does not come with an IR remote - only an RF remote...

I really like the flexibility of the VApex mounting brackets as well...

Have had the VApex for almost a month now, so no long time span for a review for me. But the tension setup seems solid and the overall build if first class IMHO.

Our setup is "living room" which necessitated a drop down screen. In a dedicated HT I would go fixed screen. But to date very pleased. Sorry for graininess of these pics... the camera is a POS.

Wow, that looks cool.

I started measuring and it looks like the LOWER weight bar on the VApex is 5" wider than the Elite. So now I might have an issue with the VApex bar hitting my speakers.

But it looks awesome.

Hopefully someone withe the Cine Tension2 will post a similar note.

nice pics indeed. I am about to pull the trigger (pun intended) on a 120 inch tab tensioned screen. The monoprice version does not include mounting hardware. It's down this one and the Elite. I kind of like the looks of this Vapex.

Just need to find more consumer reviews!

I just received delivery of the 100" tab tensioned Vapex screen. I probably won't be able to get it installed until next weekend though because I will be out of town on business all of next week. Once I get it set up, I will let you guys know how it is working. It's going to be paired with an Optoma HD33.

Hey everyone - can you guys post updates on your Vapex or Elite screens?

I decided to get a 106" tensioned screen in white and am looking at Elite or Visual Apex. The elite is about $963 and vapex is $800. I don't mind the price difference so I'd like to get whichever one is better.

I've got a few questions:
  1. Anyone have a recommendation or know the differences? They seem to be very similar.
  2. Do either of these screens have issues with too much texture or are they pretty smooth?
  3. Does the cinewhite have sparkles?
  4. Have you had any issues?

Thanks!

UPDATE:
After doing some more reading, sounds like the Elite Cinetension2 is a gamble. Some of the photos that are in the thread below show significant waves in the screen.

I did a search for the Vapex tensioned screen and haven't seen any complaints about waves, any VApex users out there that are wave-free after a year or two?

I have the vapex120
I am currently on my 2nd screen with another replacement just delivered today.
First one had serious screen defects. It actually had what looked like dimpled depressions all over it. Like a bb gun shot it and left a mark. There was a needle sized hole in it and waves.
The one I have right now has a tear where the tab tensioning cord attaches to the screen. Kind of defeats the purpose of tab tensioning.
I will try and post what luck I have with my third replacement.

Visualapex has amazing customer service. Not sure about the build quality of the Vapex screens however. I really do not want to pay thousands of dollars for a screen. It's not like its a high tech device. Sucks I have a built in where it is mounted, or I would go fixed screen.
The screen quality to my eyes is ok but the first screen was terrible with what looked like smears runing horizontally through it.

It's too bad that the VAPEX has quality issues. I was so close to getting it but think I'll wait for the elunevision reference or titan.

Thanks for posting your experience.
