When I see the size of the screen as being 110" or 120" I am not sure if it is measured diagonally or horizontally?

Normally the size of the TV screen is measured diagonally. Is projector screen ALWAYS measured horizontally ?

Unfortunately it's inconsistent. I frequently see size expressed both ways.
Here are some good sizing/aspect ratio formulas courtesy of Da-Lite:

So everytime we see the dimension of the screen we have to call the company directly to verify whether it is measured diagonally or horizontally?

Usually a 16:9 aspect ratio screen is listed diagonally. When sizes of scope screens are discussed, often times those are listed by width. To me it makes more sense to give the width of the screen and the aspect ratio. It is easier to get all of the dimensions if you have width or height and aspect ratio.
