We are planning to upgrade our 92" Stewart screen. Our projector is a JVC RS 50 & we are leaning towards either a Stewart reflection active 3D or the BD SI screen with a 1.4 gain. Which screen would be best with 3D . We do not have a light controlled room . The screen will be in our family room though at night we can get the room to be quite dark. Any help from those who have owned both these screens would be helpful since these screens are pretty expensive & we live in a small town & no way to see one of these displayed. Thanks

With a 120" 16:9 screen shooting onto a 1.4 gain screen from 15' using the RS50, I would want a little more brightness, especially since you are not in a light controlled room.

The Active 170 is brighter (1.7 gain) and you could also consider their 5D material which is 2.0 gain. Are you going with a larger screen? I seen mike say 120" but I didn't see that in your post. If you are not going larger it would only make sense to just get new material for your current screen.

We are going larger - 120" diagonal. The only reason we were even thinking of the SI is that the black bars for a scope movie ( I have heard) are minimal whereas they will be seen in other screens. Masking is very expensive for us. Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you called Stewart? I have seen Stewarts a LOT older than that and still look great. Something is up with your screen.

Keep in mind the largest BD electric screen currently available is 110" 16:9 aspect ratio, so it is not an option if wanting to go with a 120" screen.

We do plan to bring out a 2:35 Black Diamond motorized up to 138" diagonal.

Yes, I should have probably added that, SI has BD electric scope screens currently scheduled for Q1 of 2013.
