Wow, am I the only one who thinks this screen could be a blast for dedicated HT rooms?

You misunderstood. They say it is for various applications AND it is especially suitable for ultra short throw projectors (because since it has a nice smooth screen texture / no texture it allows for shorter seating distances).

It works on the same principle as other white screens with 1.2 gain. Unlike the black screen from LG, I might assume.

I wonder if the same, or a comparable material is available in the US. "Titanium dioxide white"...! I wonder what the heck that is! Might even be better than my Gatorfoam screen! rolleyes.gifsmile.gif

Titanium dioxide isn't exotic, it's the pigment used in most white paints

noah katz is right. However I still feel that this screen will be better than any other fixed screen. Here I found another description: http://www.projectorcentral.com/Screen_Tech-ST-HDV_Home_Cinema_Screen.htm 4K, heck, even 8K-ready and very durable smile.gif
They offer a model with bias lighting too http://www.webmart.de/wmshop.cfm?ID=44918&ProductID=408758&CID=71317&do=detail

Yes, it's a white pigment. But even if normal screen's material is pigmented with the same material it won't be the same white as this screen because of screen structure. The smoother the surface the whiter it is.

That link has within it a "where to buy" button, but then there's nothing there at theprojectorpros.com about it. Wonder if it's available anywhere in the US and at what price?confused.gif

I don't know, I'm not living in the USA. I'm not in Germany either so if I'd want to order this screen I'll have to order international shipping. Still the price would be very competitive! Besides the sizes specified on the site you can also order any size you wish for a square meter price of 390€.

I asked and they sent me a close-up shot of ST-HDV screen against plain A4 paper.

Nice! smile.gif

No interest in this yet? The material is smoother than A4 paper! It might be even smoother than JKP Affinity. There's a lot of hype around JKP Affinity screens and not this screen which I assume might make a good competition considering much lower prices.

I ordered a sample. Will be able to test it against cheap PVC screen by the end of month.

Although I went with EluneVision Motorized Tab-Tensioned Reference 4K screen for its functionality and great value, I have to admit this ST-HDV screen has the smoothest and cleanest surface I've ever seen. You just cannot see any screen structure even with your nose touching it. There's no sparkling either. Zip. Which I cannot say about EluneVision although it was advertised so. ST-HDV has some minor color shift towards yellow, I think, but only when you have other screens to compare to. Nothing that can't be compensated for by calibrating a projector. Also I've noticed the gain is slightly lower than 1. I haven't measured but it just a slight bit darker than my EluneVision MW 1.0 screen. Or maybe EV is just higher than 1.0?

In my opinion, this screen will be a bomb with a 4K projector. The amount of detail it gives is closing to a theoretical maximum you can ask from a screen. It just shows everything. And the difference is quite dramatic even compared to EluneVision screen. If anyone's interested I can make some photos.

Did you ever buy that screen or did you stay with the EluneVision Motorized Tab-Tensioned Reference 4K screen ?

I've ordered EluneVision because I couldn't find a way to accommodate a fixed screen in my room. Otherwise, I'd be all over this screen.
