I have seen threads in the past where folks ask "Can I just use 100 inches of a 110" screen. The answer is Yes, but the image my annoying with no black masking.

I have been watching my local Craig's list since Daite stopped making the HP 2.8 fabric for a used screen. My thought was to store this away for someday when I get a bigger house and can make a fixed frame out of it.
One finally showed up and I purchase a 110" Model C for $300. After some waffling I figured I would installed the screen in the living room. I really don't care for how it looks on the wall as it is to large for the room and really not all that attractive, but I have nowhere else to store it! Anyhow, I figure I might as well use it as to store it.
To utilize the compete surface would mean a major up grade of the room and a new projector, none of which was in the budget.
So the solution is removable masking curtains to properly mask 78" of screen

What is needed
You need a screen case made of steel not aluminum, so verify that first, before you buy anything as it is all held up with magnets.
There are 2 places folks tend to buy velvet, locally and online. I used both and prefer Joann Fabrics product. This is a link with velvet info.

Other products needed
2" Gaffers Tape http://www.goodbuyguys.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/22_86 No sewing needed!
Neodymium Magnets http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D72
Assorted measuring and cutting tools (this is not a step by step how-to)

Velvet panels and curtains are made using the gaffer's tape to hold the hems rather than stitching and also to hold the magnets.

Pictures of the completed project.
