I ordered the 119inch Da-Lite Hi-Power Perm-Wall screen from Visual Apex. It is arriving tomorrow. I think I would be happier with the 133 inch. If I try to send it back, it sounds like I will pay a big restocking fee. Should I try to sell it on eBay? The other option is to try and sell it locally on the web. I just don't know what the demand is for a screen like this. The other option is to live with it, but I worry that I will regret the size for the next 10 years. Seating is 18 feet away from the screen, Panny 8000U, white walls and ceiling with huge windows.

Thanks,
Rick

You'll probably do best paying the restocking fee.

A few years ago I tried to sell a 133" electric HP here, ebay, craigslist and couldn't sell it even for $500.

I ended up donating it to my cousin's school.

But you may be luckier, you could try selling it first.

Whether you need the bigger screen depends on your viewing distance, which is what?

viewing distance is 18 ft.

How is your projector mounted? If mounting for optimum gain, then the 133" would be a better choice, but only if you can light it up properly. To me lighting it up properly, means using best image mode. 119" is a little small (to me) at 18'.

The projector is mounted on the back wall, 22ft from screen, six feet above the ground. Perfect alignment for HP screen. I think I'm going to bight the bullet and return the smaller screen.

That mounting height will work. If you want a little more brightness, then I would lower the projector down so that the image just clears the viewers heads.

Thanks guys! I'm going to bight the bullet and send it back by refusing delivery. It is Da-lite that is charging the restocking fee. Visual Apex has been pretty helpful. I figure if I keep it 10 years, and use it everyday, that is 3,650 times I will regret my decision if I don't make the change now....

I think you're making the right decision. Just look at it as a rather costly learning experience.

You're going to love the HP. Its my favorite screen material if the logistics of pj placement work.

right, I missed that in the 1st post.

*Definitely* go for the bigger screen, even bigger than 133" if you can.

I have a 128" wide HP and watch from 14' and I'd go bigger if I wasn't already mxed out.

Thanks for confirming that bigger is the right way to go! I was home when UPS came with the drop off, and they are sending it back to Da-Lite. The new screen has been ordered! biggrin.gif
