For a few days I'm using the Daylight screen from a brand new French company Xtrem Screen. It's a 1.4 gain screen that avoid lightness pollution in a non-dedicated room.

The full review is already online with a lots of pics and video here and here :

Thanks, kraine, it's great to see another screen to battle the problem of ambient light.

I wonder why the electric screens only go up to 2.5 m; I need one 3.25 m wide.

I just made a side by side comparaison between the SONY HW50ES and the JVC X35 on my Daylight screen :

pictures clearly show a massive difference but is that any surprise as the comparison is to a white painted wall? confused.gif

To draw a meaningful conclusion, wouldn't you agree the comparison should be to another gray screen or even a regular white screen?

Agreed: it would be interesting to compare with a DNP supernova or a Black Diamond.

But I do think a white wall is pretty close to a regular gain 1 white screen. Therefore I believe that those picture on a white wall are very representative of what would happend if I changed my cheap white screen for a DAYLIGHT screen in my living room with white walls...

I don't think there is any question this screen is preferable to white painted wall in a room with daylight, which isn't any great surprise. You could paint the wall silver or gray and it would look better than a white wall in daylight. Honestly what needs to be shown is a comparison of this screen to other gray screens in daylight. Also, while the image looks good in the darkened room, I'm relunctant to say its preferable to the white screen without closer observation of shadow detail and color as there definitely appears to be a loss of brightness in the darkened setting image. I'm not putting the product down, its just reasonable to be a bit skeptical given the comparisons shown.

At these prices they'll have to be better than DNP SuperNova. I've just seen a DNP Supernova Core 2.5m (100") advertised at €1565 from a dealer.

I will see this screen in real pretty soon: the 12 June 2013! I'm excited about this. I hope I won't be disapointed. I'll let you know my impressions.

I already saw a few days ago a DNP Supernova screen with gain 0.8! It was impressive! But not bright enough for 3D. I did see at the same time a sample of the DNP supernova with 2.3 gain which was equally impressive and really bright! I didn't really spot shimmering or sparkles but I must say I don't know how it looks like ( I was nevertheless looking for it).

The DNP with gain 0.8: lot of contrast, very good blacks, extreme viewing angle without colour or brightness shift. Not for 3d because of the brightness. Very smooth surface. NO hotspot.

The DNP with gain 2.3: lot of contrast, good blacks, good viewing angle without colour shift but with however a very smooth drop in brightness as you go on the sides of the screen. Perfect for 3d because of the brightness. Very smooth surface. Can't tell for the hotspot right now but I will be seeing the screen in full size in a few weeks...

What is the name of your Dealer? Mine would sell me a DNP Supernova 23 23 Core for 3000€ in 120", therefore I'm very interested in what can offer me your dealer!

Hi there,

a new picture of the DAYLIGHT screen taken by KRAINE/Worf:

With 1m50 away from my computer screen (with the screen put to his original size thanks to the coin), I don't see the structure of the screen anymore! smile.gif

Hi,
I am very exited about this screen, since my living room is completely white. However, I have some concerns:
What do we know about the use of lens shift? I am forced to place my projector horizontally off-centered and wonder if this will affect the uniformity of brightness?
Could you try to verify this on the 12th? (I know something has been written in french about this, but I am unable to understand it..wink.gif
Thanks for your help and looking forward to hearing your opinions after the 12th!

Not sure what the point of those pictures is; it looks like they were taken in a dark room (I don't see any washing out with the other screen material) and only show that the gain is low.

The point is: the gain is really about 1.4 because you can see a big difference in brightness between the white paper (gain about 1) and the Daylight screen.
