Draper has launched a new High Performance screen fabric that is truly amazing! Beautiful colors, wide viewing angles, high contrast images that don't get washed out. Get rid of your old screen and put up a 119" Onyx with High Performance fabric! (P.S. you will thank me)

It probably shimmers like the rest of the competition. Also, this:

Isn't quite uniform 0.85. But 0.6-0.85. Look at the scale.

Elix,

I am not sure I understand your question about the half gain angle for the chart you inserted above. The viewing cone for a surface is usually from center axis to the half gain point, right? Half gain for this material is .425. It doesn't appear that this material comes close to that point. Maybe it is not a pure Lambertian diffuser, but I don't see how a half gain angle could have been entered.

Did I miss something?

Perhaps by going beyond 60 deg.

Yes, that's possible. My point was to attract attention to those who might think that this screen is near-perfect lambertian diffuser (they even use close term "uniform diffuser"). Due to the scale they used the graph does look like near-perfect lambertian surface which is misleading.

Good screen. Will the XS850E be cheaper than ReAct2.1?

Onyx pricing here. Pricey.

PC just posted a review. I don't see any mention of shimmering.

It seems to want to compete in price w/ SI's BD so out of reach for a lot of people.

Street might be lower but they're saying $2,717 for 100"!!!

Sounds promising - However, it would be nice to see a comprehensive comparison with Black Diamond and DNP

I wonder if it's available in rolldown/electric.

Should help with the price; fixed frame is more expensive and the fancy border adds too

Draper has a video comparing this material to matt white and also to an unidentified "competing screen" with .85 gain and ambient light rejection.

I saw this material on a HT event this weekend, it was shown together with a Sony HW55 projector in a light controlled room (almost) and i thought it looked good. What interested me most was whether the material showed texture/sparkles in the picture and as far as i could see, it didn`t. No clear signs of hot-spotting either.

I`m very interested in more reviews (both user & pro) and specifically if others are seeing visible texture/sparkles.

I just got a 132" 2.35 of this material and there is no shimmer or sparkle. It looks awesome. Huge viewing angles, no hotspotting and no shimmer/sparkle. This thing is a legit beast. I'm not sure why more people on here don't recommend it because compared to the competition its cheaper with amazing results. Here's a few shots of the viewing angles: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1524643/picked-up-a-draper-xs850e-screen-over-the-weekend

I guess I was wrong then! Sometimes it feels nice to be wrong.

Is there anyone else who got this screen material lately and could give their opinion?
