I've read, read, and read some more. Everytime I think I have decided, I read something else that makes me change my mind.

Variables: 13x18 Room (8ft ceiling), almost total control of light, so virtually pitch black if I want it to be.
Projector: Epson 3020

Size-big as I can get. But looking around 120-140ish size
Color--I'll paint the walls/ceiling whatever is necessary. I'm initially looking at a "home theater red" for the walls and black ceiling.
Wants--excellent picture quality in 2d and 3d
If I've left out any variables, let me know.

I've looked at the Elite 125 motorized

I get the feeling the price is too good and quality will be an issue.

I've looked at the SI Performance 120--but I'm worried the gain is too high? But for 3d purposes, will this gain be needed in a black room?

I've also looked at this Carada.

I've looked at tons more, including a curved one from Elite, but the reviews didn't appear to great.

Edit--forgot to mention, if you have a better suggestion--please share it!

I am in the same boat, and still researching, I like Elite's but some reviews are not to favorable, also liked Monoprice screens but their shipping costs are unbelievably excessive, ($175 to ship a screen, come on man).

I am now heavily leaning toward 2.35 Carada, with the higher gain Brilliant White material, not necessarily for 3d but more for the 2.35 zoom. Carada is a bit more expensive than the others but hard to find a negative word about them.

As far as gain the way I see it, and I am sure some one will correct me if I am wrong, but better to go brighter and turn it down via the projector than not bright enough and cook your bulb trying to compensate.

While reading MORE, hahaha, I was thinking of a 2:35 as well. Just seems like a hassle to to set up 2;35. Any easy tips?

My JVC has save memory settings, I have memory one set to display 16.9 and memory two set to display 2.35 via zoom. If yours has the ability to save lens settings it should be easy to do it that way.

Or you can get an anamorphic lens but they are very expensive.

Dark room, dark walls, go with a Da Lite HD Pro 1.1 or maybe 1.3 gain screen - 119" diagonal. Very good smooth screen material, if you don't want to spend the money on a Stewart ( the Stewart Cima Neve 1.1 would be another top choice ). Any reason you need to go with an electric screen over a fixed?

Let me chime in here, because I am in the same boat as the other guys, is the Da Lite HD Pro a lot better than the Cinema Vision or Cinema Vision HC?

Short anwser - yes. Less screen texture / sparklies. A much cleaner image.

On the other hand, I have a retractable electric HCCV screen for sale ! smile.gif

Cool appreciate the feedback. Looking at fixed frame and still about 5 months out from a finished theater, but need to decide on screen size/dimensions sooner than later.

The wall where I want to put the screen is like this:

I have to find a way to mount a screen on that wall or use a drop down. I prefer a fixed.
So are you saying the DA-Lite you mentioned will be better than the Carada or SI Performance I listed? If so, by what margin?

I am myself waiting to make a decision about a first screen for 110 icn diag. First, i was leaning towards a da lite hi power in order to have a good 3d 2d setup. I am planning to get sony 55es once it gets released unless other reviews are demonstrating better results within the same price range. After feedback from this forum, and if the room lightning is controlled , i am now leaning towards a da lite hd pro 1.1

I have received samples from mnay manufacturers listed in this thread and i am planning to to test the samples i have before i decide on my screen. This is my suggestion for you. Test it and see how it looks in your setup. It might not be ideal, but it should give you some clues on what your eyes can see and prefer.

As a note, i am just a noob reader still undecided until i get my projo

Found a place selling the Stewart Cima Neve and the price is not too ugly. Considering it now.
