Has anyone seen the Draper MS1000V screen? It was demoed at CEDIA 2013.
Pros and cons? Any sparklies / sheen?
How does it compete against SI Black Diamond 1.4?

Info from Draper Inc

I have a Black Diamond 0.8 that I want to replace because of the sparkles/hot spotting.

I considered replacing it with a MS1000V so I got a sample from Draper.

I taped the MS1000V sample to various places on my BD screen and found that the sparkles are at least as bad with MS1000V and the ambient light rejection is not as good.

I should add to my above post that in addition to the MS1000V sample, I also taped a pure white screen sample to my BD screen to make sure that the sparkles I was seeing were not caused by my projector or something else.

I could see no sparkles on the white screen sample.

Was this the latest samples? I did hear that the initial samples sent out by Draper were orientated to the wrong side.

I read about that problem.

My sample is apparently correct. The back side is very shiny, and the front side is much less shiny - more of a satin finish.

That's too bad. I will post my observations when I setup mine. Mine would be the react 2.1 though, but I believe they r the same.

Wouldn't put too much on the sample....I tried with a sample of the euro React 2.1 material ( same as ms1000v), with poor results, especially as far as viewing cones were concerned.

...however, it seems the material only does it's magic after being fully tab tensioned - hence the sample is flawed unless you are stretching out at all angles.

Did you get your screen hung yet, interested in your results as I'm considering one of their screens with this material.
Also what screen did you get?

C17FXR,

I did. I got the Draper React 2.1 Tab Tensioned screen (same screen as Draper MS1000V I believe). I have not seen any major sparklies on my setup. I think its a good ambient light screen considering the price. It does seem to be a gain of 1.0. I am using it in a living room with white walls, white ceiling.

72 degrees. Is this enough - that's my question...
