I just picked up a Sony VPL-HW55ES for my dedicated (total light control) theater in my new house.
I am currently narrowing my screen options to:
1. Visual Apex VAPEX 120" http://www.visualapex.com/Projector-Screens/Projector_Screen_Details.asp?chPartNumber=VAPEXPRO9120FF (Cheap, available and seems to have good reviews)
2. Monoprice Fixed Frame 120" http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10829&cs_id=1082914&p_id=7956&seq=1&format=2 (Cheap, possible better screen material than VAPEX, but high $165 shipping freight cost)
3. Monoprice Multi-Format 120" (w/ masking system) http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10829&cs_id=1082910&p_id=7969&seq=1&format=2 (Slick masking system, but more expensive, screen material may be better than VAPEX, but again high $165 shipping freight cost)
4. VuTec Vu-Easy 120" BW (B&H has for less than $800, but it comes in with shipping as expensive as the Monoprice multiformat with no masking, and no black backer like all the other screens -- the BW Opaque is over $1000). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/445672-REG/Vutec_01_EZ060_107BW_Vu_Easy_Permanently_Tensioned_Wall.html
I am now leaning toward one of the fixed frame options. Because of MPs $165 shipping fee (it ships freight), I am likely to go VAPEX.
I also looked at Elite Sable Frame (too many negative reviews) .
Would love to get some thoughts ...
Anyone have experience with these screens?
I have the 120 inch Vapex fixed frame screen with white material. A terrific screen in a dark room. Surprisingly strong, thick frame at a bargain price.
