I have two questions that I am having trouble resolving and would like to hear any input this group may have about the SI Slate screen.
First, is the minimum throw distance for the SI slate is 1.5x width? So for a 115" screen, this would put it at 12.5' (100"W x 1.5 = 150 / 12 = 12.5'). I have see some posts, mostly about the black diamond screen, which has the same min throw, saying a longer throw with this screen is better. Anyone have any experience that could provide some clarity on this? Is 14' better?
Second. On SI's site, under the features of the Zero Edge 5 Slate, they reference "curve". Is this screen curved? Is this an option? Would you do it if it was?
The Black Diamond is 1.5x minimum throw for the Slate material it is1.2 x width. However longer throws are better for reduced hot spotting and better screen uniformity with these type of ambient rejecting screens. You can get curved but I wouldn't do it unless you are going to use an anamorphic lens.
