I just got my 133" Cineperm screen today. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif The frame came in one box and the screen material came in another box. The screen material was folded, so now that I've got it snapped to the frame (not an easy task) its got some major creases. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif Is this normal? Has anyone else's screen come folded? If so, how do you get the creases out?

Thanks,
Ben

Ben:

Wheneven I have seen a Draper screen come in it was all in one box with the screen rolled on a tube. You will have wrinkels for about two days. Need to give the materal time to strech out. Like I said...the wrinkels will come out but I have need screen come in folded screen with creases. Always have seen them rolled. Give it a few days anyway and see if it clears.

If purchased from AVS, please get back to us after a few days if you still have the problem.

Ben,
I have been told that the creases are normal and will flatten out after the screen has been attatched for a few days.
Someone can probably give you a definitive answer, but hopefully this will put your mind at ease.

I'll let it go for a few days and see if the wrinkles smooth out. It just seemed strange to me that they would fold it instead of roll it to ship it.

Ben did you get this screen from us. It sounds like it was a repackaged screen. Not new. Draper ships them in one box.

I ordered the screen through a local dealer. The boxes came UPS direct from Draper. Should I talk to my local dealer and tell him I got jipped and I want a new screen rolled up instead of folded?

Your folds will come out after the screen as been stretched for a couple of days. I have never been aware of a screen shipping in 2 boxes before with the screen material in a seperate box and folded.

Anyone who has received a Draper Screen ordered from AV Science...Did your screen come folded or rolled on a tube?

Hi,

If it's a 16:9 screen and you're hanging it up like a picture, don't forget to slap a thin vertical wooden board or two between the top and bottom of the frame, behind the screen, to keep the middles of the top/bottom of the screen from sagging inwards. It will help stretch out the screen.

An update on my folded screen. I talked to my local dealer who was also suprised that they sent it folded instead of rolled. Draper is sending me a new screen, and once I receive it I am sending them back the folded one. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

b.t.w. I've had the screen on the frame for a week now, with a board in the middle to keep it from sagging. The creases have smoothed out a little, but are still noticable. So, I'm glad they are exchanging the screen.

Ben

I have received screens from Draper folded in the past. The creases do not disappear completely even after months.

Make sure you get a replacement.

Use a hair dryer, on a medium hot setting.

This is what Draper (& others) does for trade shows.

Just don't melt it! Which is pretty hard to do.
