Stewart Martin asked how I liked my Vu-Tec. Here is my response:

I chose Magnepan 1.6 speakers for my main speakers. My center and
rear speakers Aura LST-827D which are an excellent match to the
Magnepans. The Magnepans are 2-Way/Quasi Ribbon Planar-Magnetic
which are 19"w x 65"h x 2"d. Since my 9' wide screen goes wall to
wall, my only choice was to use a perforated screen or give up
my Magnepans.

As far as the Vu-Tec audio screen, I am quite happy. I have been
using it for 5 months with my Dukane 9015 DILA. My home theater is in
a Multi-purpose great room. Therefore, I have a Vu-Tec roll down 16x9
audio screen. My ears cannot tell the difference between when the
screen is up or down. As for the picture, at less than 6' you can see
the texture of the screen fabric. It is like looking at a painting on
canvas. Beyond 6', I can't see the texture at all. Another
consideration is light bouncing off wall behind screen. My walls are
off white. To solve this problem I put a perforated black shade
behind the screen. Painting the walls black was not an option (i.e.
SAF).

The Vu-Tec audio screen has a gain of 0.8. I looks awesome in very
dark room. In a lighter room the picture starts to wash out i.e. the
blacks disappear. However, it is still great for watching the
Olympics.

Even though the screen is not tab-tensioned, it has remained
extremely flat. Mechanically the screen has worked flawlessly.
It was also very easy to install.

I have not been able to A-B compare this screen to other screens with
a DILA projector.
