I bought a used Stewart screen with the Videomatte 200 fabric (1.8 screen gain). I got a good price since it was so badly damaged and I have managed to fix almost all the problems. However, the screen fabric itself still has one huge mark on it about a foot tall. It looks like some kind of burn mark or perhaps there was something on the screen itself and somebody before me tried to clean it with an abrasive or something. You can't even see this mark when you are 3 feet away and the projector is off. Furthermore, you don't see it too much when the projector is on except when solid colors are being used across it. Needless to say it is very distracting.
Here is a pic to give you an idea of what it looks like:
Here is the same mark with gamma adjusted so you could see it better:
So my question is is there anyway to clean this? I guess I should probably start with mild soap and water....correct? Are there any other tricks out there I don't know about? Finally, and I know most people are going to think I am nuts, what about painting the entire screen grey? I know some people have had good results with dlp's and dila's with grey screen and I am thinking about the Infocus lp340. Is it possible to already paint a screen like this or would it crack due to the vinyl?
I am aware of Stewart's new grey screen. Is there a price for it yet? Something tells me it is probably over my budget right now but I am sure it is an incredible product.
