Has anyone painted their DIY screen frame using flat black paint or are you using black felt?
Which are you using and why?

I chose a dark stain and am very pleased with it. Personally, if I were to do it again - I would wrap the frame in a black velvet first and then mount the screen to it.

I would not suggest paint because of possible flaking - you know - black dandruff! As for the felt, Velvet has a tighter weave and backing material over felt. When I've worked with felt in the past, it is see through when light reflects off of the material below it.
