Hey Guys,

I am also looking for a good 96" wide fixed (16x9) Stewart screen with the Velux. Do you guys know where is the best place to get this at a great price?I am looking for a screen because I am getting ready to buy a Barco 1208 with a Quadscan.

I also saw a custom Stewart with a 2.35 screen with the Velux. With keeping the 1.85 and 1.33 with the same vertical picture with just some side masking. It looked fabulous. Has anyone else tried this custom size screen.

Thanks in advance, bkwong73

I have gotten a couple e-mails on this...I'm being told a fair price for the none velux is around 6 to 7 hundred, and the velux covered is around $750 to $900 hundred, so happy hunting...Kenny

Hi Kenny,

Thanks for the reply about a fair price. I am leaning towards a Stewart screen (16x9) standard 1.78 ration with the black velux. I think that feature is only $200 to 300 added.

Where's the best place to get a Stewart screen?

Thanks, bkwong73

You will be hard pressed to find a used -excellent condition- Stewart screen, due to the fact that they do what they are supposed to do. They give you a great image to look at. It's like trying to find a Linn turntable, or tonearm. It can be quite difficult at times. And, for instance, the MFA pre-amp I just purchased. These sort of items are valued because, to those who know what-is-what... these items actually WORK!.. and their owners RARELY, if ever, get 'rid' of them. The used value of each tends to remain HIGH, if you can find the item. IT took me a year to find the pre-amp.

So do you think the prices I've been quoted are about right? Most of the other screens I've seen sell for about half of their original price the stewart prices seem to be about 65% of original...Kenny

Hi Kenny,

Did you say you found someone to sell you a Stewart 130 @ 96" wide (16x9) with the Velux for $750 to $900(US). Could you tell me who I could talk to. So I can get this also.

Thanks, bkwong73

The only way around the 65% thing is to try and find someone who is selling their screen privately, instead of buying from a shop.. if indeed these prices came from a shop. You MAY find the bargain, you may not. In any case, you will be waiting. If you buy now, does it to you, outweigh the waiting for the 'right price'?; and will that price actually BE a great one? These things haven't played out yet. The trick is to do the calculation, and think of the possible savings. If the difference is about $100-150, which is about what it could be.. it may be a long wait for that price you want... and it may not be the right size of screen, and it may be flawed. With a dealer, you have the right of return.

Some food for your thought.

On the other hand.... it may show up tomorrow...(have fun!)

No, the non-velux screen is $700, someone else also has a velux they're asking $1050 for...if your interested in paying that much for a used 96" studiotek 130 with the velux, e-mail me and I'll give you his e-mail address...Kenny

P.S. no these prices are from a couple people who were answer this thread through e-mail, not shops...what I've really been asking here is what is a used stewart worth? (approx)
So those prices are the opinions of others.
