I just installed a Barco Cine 7 today. I was going to get a Stewart Studiotek 130 100" diagonal 4:3 screen (I would go for 16:9 but they don't have it here in Korea!), but the Stewart dealer had trouble getting it to me today. Since the Cine 7 installers were waiting for the screen to arrive but the Stewart dealer could not deliver, I ended up getting a Da-Lite Whitematt 1.3 gain manual screen with same size.

Give the price difference, I was very suprised with the Da-Lite quality! I am quite happy with the picture this screen is able to put on at 1/20 the price of the Stewart screen in Korea. I paid $180 for the manual Da-Lite while I was going to buy the Stewart Luxus100VST130 for $4000 (electric version). I am now considering keeping the Da-Lite and not buying the Stewart given the price-performance trade-off. Da-Lite is nothing to look at but seems to work. I don't know how great a picture Stewart would deliver but I am hesitant now to getit?

Can some one give me an advice on this decision based on experience? What am I paying for exactly over the Da-Lite if I get a Stewart? Also, is $4000 a reasonable price range for this screen to get overseas? I asked AVS to ship one over but they can't sell overseas any more. I seem to be running out of luck for a Stewart screen. Should I continue to make the effort and pay to get this one. Why? Please help!

I had a Stewart 130 16:9 perf and after 8 months upgraded to a Stewart Greyhawk 130 16:9 perf.
They original Stewart looked wonderful and the Greyhawk looks exceptional with my JVC G11 prjector & HTPC.

Mr. Stevie Ng,

Do you have an authorized Stewart Filmscreen dealer in the Philippines? Or do your Manila customers have to order direct from Singapore? I'm currently in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and could probably look for a screen over here but then I'd have to worry about shipping it home. Buying locally in Manila (and being able to demo the screen/materials) would be best for me.

I've seen some HT shops back home with Stewart Screens installed in their demo rooms but they didn't have sample screen materials nor were they keen on selling just a screen.

Any info would be appreciated.

Tnx - Sonny B.

Stevieng,

Thanks for your offer to help. I sent you an email with my contacts. Please send me those samples ASAP. I hope you can ship the screen directly to me.

I have to say that I believe that the Stewart screens blow away the Da-Lite in quality and performance. This is from my experience. The quality of the screens are very good and the customer support is exceptional. The price is high, but you get what you pay for.

I must say that Da-Lite screens are a good value though in general.

To me the extra cost was worth it.
