This High Contrast fabric, is it a new variation of the Da-Mat or is it a totally new fabric from Da-Lite? I checked the Da-Lite website and they only list the Da-Mat.

From what I read in some posts, it's color grey. Is this Da-Lite's answer to the Greyhawk? Would it be a good match for the LP340 or VT440? What about for a 700 lumen projector like Sanyo's SW10?

Anyone with comments, please chime in.

Tnx - Sonny

P.S. Tried to do a search on this subject but the server was busy so I'm not sure if this topic has been brought out before.

It is a new fabric. Contact Da-lite and ask for some samples. It is .80 gain instead of .85 that the Stewart grayhawk uses. It works very well. I have a tensioned high contrast screen in the cosmopolitian electrol version. The fabric only is availible on fixed or tensioned screens. Da-lite recommend it for projectors with around a 1000 lumens like the Sony vh10 which is what I used for a demonstration. I was not able to directly compare it to the Stewart grayhawk as the dealer did not have one. But from the results I obtained, I did not need to compare it.

The LP340 has 1300 lumens, more than enough for use with the da-lite high contrast. I am not familiar with the VT440. Because of the low gain of the screen it is intended to be used with projectors with at least 1000 lumens. Da-lite does however recommend that your screen be located in a dark area of the room with little ambient light directly hitting the screen for best results. If you have a lot of ambient light,da-lite recommends a screen with a higher gain. You are going to have to take a look at the materials and see which you prefer. I loved the increased black level I saw when I examined the high contrast with the Sony.
