Dedicated HT - Dark room, no windows - ALR?

Finally able to have a dedicated HT in our new house (~17' deep / no windows) and planning on using a matte finish darker paint. No lights will be on while viewing.

Looking to use a JVC X550R and wondering what I should go with for a high-end screen. Main question is, do ALR screens have any benefit in a room like this? Seem to be reading contradicting info online...

I'm in Austin, TX so I'm somewhat gravitating to SI.

No, a properly built room with proper reflected light control is where you use a white, color neutral, texture free, utility gain screen.

And please don't buy the SI white..it pushes more blue than some screens at 1/2 the price or less.

Easy $25 DIY black (or any color) ALR paint +$40-$50sprayer screen mix smooth/clean and very easy to learn spraying with little/no mess.
Simple $25-40 DIY black/dark-grey ambient-light rejecting screen, grab two things from a local store..mix..roll..done.

This report may help you understand the differences and why one screen is better for one room than another.

In your situation I would go with a white screen for sure - Stewart Cima Neve, StudioTek 130 G3 or similar. Which is what I have myself ! Give us a call if we can help.
