I am disgusted by the support answers that Da-Lite gave above (Ken, thanks for posting). Agreed, if there is a known issue, don't hide behind language like Don't clean your screen under any circumstances or you will reduce your gain... I can't even use my screens if they're doubled back on themselves, wrapped around the spool the wrong way, and the weight has passed over the faceplate's ridge. One screen was so bad that it pulled the Da-Lite nameplate right off. Take that!
I have a feeling that the vinyl will leach out for the life of the product, so they're unwilling to give an answer until you say "replace my screens." Let's hope the chemical isn't toxic since we're all getting so intimate with it. Has anyone tried adding talcum powder? I know it will make a horrible mess on the black side panels, but if it doesn't get too gummy, it may work to lube the screen. I used Simple Green today, and it just smeared. Other times, I have just wiped my palms across the screen and the tackiness was temporarily reduced.
PS: On a positive note, if you play football, wipe your hands on the screen and it works like Stick-em! Yay! Super Bowl here I come! Watch me on your Da-Lite screen! (unless it's all jacked up, of course)
