I am going to order my HD1000U in a few days and need a screen for it. The room is 100% light controlled (in basement) and is 10.5 x 18 x 6.5. I used to have a 73" DiY 16:9 screen down there but I was thinking something like a 92-106" would be better. It can be fixed or a pull-down, no electric ones. I've seen some cheapies from Elite but am not sure if they're worth it? We are renting this townhouse and will be buying a house out west in 2 years or so. At that time I will probably just give the screen to my brother as I'll want something better by then.

Just for the heck of it I made a model of my room, to scale, with a 100" screen. In front of it I made a model of my 51" Hitachi CRT, which we are currently using to play our new Nintendo Wii. That thing is AWESOME! My wife and I are absolutely addicted to the tennins game, and the golf game is awesome, too. Here's the pic

Also, thanks for any help!

With a 6.5 ceiling you might have a issue with that size screen and the drop height of the projector. Below is the data page on the projector

I'm using my HD1000U with an XFS Black Flame screen. I've started a thread that has my review of the set-up. I think it's very pretty outstanding. At around $200 I don't know if that would qualify as cheap for you, but given the performance I felt it was cheap enough for me. Here's the thread:

I'm assuming those are heights and we are looking thru a cross section of the room and the ceiling is 9' in the main area.

So I would say your answer is yes. And I'm assuming you are going to ceiling mount the projector . And the room is deep enough to throw the image size you want.

My research for our new HT / recreational area resulted in this GREAT projector calculator. Hope you guys will find it as usefull as I do. I just put an order in for the Mitshubishi HD1000U based on the inputs of members of this forum, and this tool just couldn't be better. Btw, it came directly from the Mitshubishi web site.

Enjoy!
