I'm currently using a home made black out 74" wide screen with my 1252Q. While I'm satisfied with the picture quality for the most part, it definitely could use a little more brightness. What kind of results can I expect with one of those cheap Da-Lite glass bead screens? Input from those who've tried both would be of great help.

Too grainy/sparkly and can't be cleaned. Beads are too big which makes screen too sparkly and grainy and if one falls out it can't be fixed. Pay the extra bucks for Hipower (tiny glass beads with special coating) that has same 2.5 gain, more durable, and can be gently cleaned.

I wouldn't go more than a 1.3 gain for a crt projector. I have a 1272 and a 100" Draper Cineperm wall screen. It's a nice screen. 1.3 gain.
Washable and very easy to clean. If you do go with a Glass bead screen, stay with a 1.0 gain.
