I've just received my Sharp 9000 and now, after reading some threads here at AVS, I'm going to get the screen. I'm going with the Stwart GrayHawk (as recommended by Mr. Stwart himself). I would like to go with the MicroPerf and place the center speaker (or even all the front speakers) behind the screen.

What is the minimum distance that the speaker should have from the screen? Is it supposed to be right behind the screen ("touching it") or is there a minimun space that should be kept between them in order not to loose sound quality?

I looked for such information on Stwarts web page but couldn't find it.

try it and place where it sounds best.

Methinks 3 people believe you have already lost.:) :)

The front of my center is about 4" behind the screen (if I remember correctly). I did remove the front cover (grill cloth) before I set it back there. The screen (Stewart) came with a equalizer for the center, but I never used it. Sound from my center is crisp and I am quite happy with it.

I have the exact same setup you are going to have Sharp 9000 and Stewart Micoperf Greyhawk. All 3 of my speaker are behind the screen and the set about 3 to 4" inches back from the screen. I also didn't use the supplied equalizer because to my ears anyway the sound is fantastic.
