I have just recently entered into the arena of front projection. Here are the needed facts:
Projector: NEC LT154 900 Lumen XGA LCD
HTPC 1027x576 resolution.
Viewing distance: Variable from 9 feet to 15 feet.
Room. The room is kind of unique. It is the living room of my apartment which is on the 18th floor of my comples and faced east. The entire front wall of the room is windows. We have already fasioned blackout shades that do an adequete job. The walls are white.
The room houses the audio equipment and a 53in HDTV. We plan on making a screen that hangs from the celing in front of the TV. Our delima is the size.
We can sit anywhere from 9 feet to 15 feet away. We have no problem moving the couch for viewing.
Our idea is to make an 8 foot x 4.5 foot screen and sit about 12-15 feet away. At this size and viewing distance will an 8 foot wide screen with a resolution of 1024x576@900Lumens be a quality image?
We made a 5 foot wide test screen and the image looked wonderful, just too small. Using the proposed dimensions on a screen assumed to be 1.0 gain (bher Ultra White paint) the Foot/Lambert(sp) calc comes out to 25.
Any ideas or reccomendations would be gretly appreciated.
