Hi,

What does a screen do, that my white wall don't?
And which kind of screen to use with a CRT projector (Barco Graphics 800)

Regards,
Lars E. Jørgensen

Lars: A screen has it all over a white wall. There are many different screen surfaces available depend on how much brightness you may need. How light or dark is your room? There is matte white, glass beaded, grayhawks, etc. Plus, with a screen, you have a distinct border with specific dimensions, which a wall doesn't have. Plus you have pull down and motorized screens which can go away when you aren't using them.

A/V is only as good as your weakest link.

You pay $8 at the Local Theatre
Upon entering you find they are showing the Movie on the
BACK WALL

Now you have invested $2000,$3000,$4000,->$10,000 for a projector?
And you want to watch it on your Wall??

I understand, I'm Cheap myself
Treat yourself to a Fixed Screen

Lars:

If you want to experiment and you’re just a little handy with some basic tools, you can give the screen material I found. However, you’re limited to a 100 inch HD screen. Check out the post "High Quality Screen at Very Low Cost". I taped up a sample of the DA-MAT material form Da-Lite on my screen and this material from Parkland Plastic is equal or better than Da-Lite’s (even a little brighter, no change in the blacks and no hot spots) and all for the cost of about $25.00.
