That video should be a sticky for the projector forum. Damn upgrade bug comes every September. Not as bad as the video though. Thanks for sharing! Awesome video!

I used the sets suggested by projector's reviews(Art), and I'm quite happy with them. The RS 10, despite of minor issues has a great potential. The picture for my taste showed a little better after the tweaks.

I pulled together a projector comparison of the Panasonic AE3000, JVC RS10/350, JVC HD100/RS2, JVC RS20/HD750.

This AE3000 is killing, it did really well and its the one others are compared to.

Still fence sitting.

Sorry can't post directly, don't know how

hi guys I have a general question if you can help answer.
Am currently trading in my panny ae-3000 for the RS-10. but I am running a few inches short to fit the rs-10 into the dedicated space. I need 18.8inch but only have 17inch deep. Is there any problem if I fit the RS-10 into the space by rising the back of it so it will sit nicely in?

Go for the HD350 and be done with it. Anyone spending this kind of coin on a 3000 or JVC should have it calibrated anyway so that part in the comparison chart is pretty much garbage. The JVC does have better blacks, contrast level most all would agree there. As for features the Panny does have more features, so if you need those then go for the Panny. I already suggested you go with either JVC, the Panny or Epson 6500. If the cash flow allows then JVC, if not flip a coin, pick one and call a day on the other two.

Hey Maximus 1971:

if you want a complete different regulation, I tested and proved to be very good, read the review of the RS 10 of home theater magazine. There's a topic named home theater equipment review that you can access and next click in front projectors. You'll find specs. I changed one or two sets and the image got very impressive in iris 1.

We are getting to the point, where most of the projectors are getting very close to each other in terms of performances. Differences occur with amount of lumens and features like the memory lens

I game with the JVC Rs10 every night. Mostly Halo and Rockband. It performs very well and I don't notice and ghosting or lag on it. I would have no problem recommending the JVC Rs10 for gamers that have the cash. Where it really shines is in a dark room though. When I game with ambient light I always turn it up to high power.

Just curious going by that review to achieve those high lumens on cinema 1 you need the lamp mode to be on high correct? Will that affect the blacks?

Quick question-should I pay an extra 500 for the rs10 or go with the rs1x and put the difference into something else?

Or, you can wait about 3-4 weeks for the RS10 replacement to come out. It will probably be a similar price to the RS10. If you still want the RS10 at that point you can probably get one for even less then you're willing to pay now.

Hi Maximus:

To apply the gain and offset sets you have to press the ok button on custom 1. Do the same with the gamma.

The posts refer to iris 3. This regulation is for one who likes bright images.

I discovered that hdmi enhanced disturbs cinema 1, so I changed to auto. The brightness I upped to 0 and decreased contrast to O. Finally I had the Iris in 1.

This is a question of taste. My room is very dark and light controlled. I'll keep this set up (user 1) for every source of video. I kept also Art's setting in cinema 1, that's proper for iris 2.

Anyway, tweaking a little,as I did, you will find the best image for you. I'm sure of this.

Good luck.

Can anyone give me an idea of what amount of clearance I can expect underneath a ceiling mounted RS-10? My ceiling will be only a bit over 7 feet after drywall and I'm wondering if I should frame out a recess for the mount to keep the projector as close to the ceiling as possible. If I mounted it to the ceiling (using a Chief mount I guess), how many inches would it be from the ceiling to the bottom of the projector?

I just picked up the last clearance RS10s. I have a 110" diagonal Carada Brilliant white screen. I have to move my mount in any event and my choices are 12' or 16' away from the screen. Any difference or is either distance preferred?

Thanks

It probably won't make a massive difference, but if you went for the 12' position (assuming it would still fill the screen), then the slightly brighter image could be trimed using the iris to get better CR. Remember that it is possible (in the service menu) to set the iris to one of 15 levels (like the HD750), so you can use the 'in between' settings to give finer control.

FWIW I have mine at 19' onto a 112" wide 2.35:1 Beamax Matt White and I mostly watch with the iris at -14 to -11 after 150 hours on the lamp.

Zooming: Been there, done that, bought the lens...

The offset for blue at +2 may be limiting your CR as Manni found over on the HD750 thread. Better to keep the offsets at 0 or below. In your case this would mean red -4, green -2 and blue at 0. You would then have to adjust the main brightness level to match.

Hi Kelvin:

I tweaked the offsets with the numbers you gave us an tried many different discs, specially those with very dark scenes. I gave attention to details such of the color of the eyes and and the presence of objects that were in the scenes before. The image definitely got better. I have the dvd lost in space, realeased long ago, and I nver saw it the way I did yesterday. I thank you very much for your helping. Bless you.
