JimmyR was Jim Rich of Foster City, California. His wife just called and asked me to notify all of you who knew him. Jim had some long standing health issues but had just been through two surgeries which had very gone well. He was feeling better than he had felt in a long time and was starting a project, which was something he hadn't felt like doing in a long time. I understand that his death was sudden and unexpected but gentle and painless.

I remember Jimmy's sense of humor most. He was one of the reasons a lot of folks felt at ease posting on the forum. He was welcoming and understanding. He was always constructive and never critical. I never met him personally, but we talked on the phone many times. I tried IM'ing with him but it drove him crazy. Jim had a valuable perspective and was technically very astute but always quite practically grounded. He had fun here. He made me have fun here. I will miss him, as I am sure many will. He has left something for all of us.

I had many conversations with Jimmy. He was one of the most loyal followers we have ever had, and I know I will personally miss hearing his always cheerful voice.

Rest in peace Jimmy...we'll miss you.

This is terrible news, may he rest in peace and my condolences to his family.
In the years that I lurked here before becoming a regular poster, I remember reading many of his posts and he certainly was knowledgeable as well as personable.
He will be missed.

I'll miss Jimmy Rich, bought his colorfacts system from him. Talked on the phone many times. He has been retired for some time and you know not many or any of you were ever told.

Jimmy Rich was one of the original Oakland Raiders, one of his roomies on road games was Jim Otto. I guess he never wanted to brag about it. RIP

Never met Jim in person, but he certainly helped me out a lot when I was first learning to calibrate displays. A good guy for sure.

I never knew his age.

Last night I went into the oldest of the two AVS archives and searched is name. It is very easy to get a feel for the man as you review his posts.

I did meet Jimmy in person and he was a great guy and a real enthusiast.

I'd guess he was in his early 60's.
