NotÃ*cias da Mitsubishi para a IFA 2011

http://www.cine4home.de/blog/2011/08...-der-ifa-2011/

"Der bereits eingeführte HC-9000 wird in einer überarbeiteten Version „HC9000 Advanced“ vorgestellt, neu sind hier die 2D->3D Konvertierung und ein verbessertes Colormanagement."

Google Translator:

"The already established HC-9000 is presented in a revised version of "HC9000 Advanced", here are the new 2D-> 3D conversion and an improved color management."

HC9000 Advanced???? Improved CMS????

Is this some kind of joke or bad translation?

Having an actually WORKING CMS is no joke, my friend.
OTOH: Having a good preset will do the trick, too.

I think they are making a joke of why MITs is re-releasing a PJ as new and improved when all they have done is fix their OWN mistakes and make the PJ work as it should have from day one.

The CMS did not fully work. Not fully working for a CMS is like being only partially pregnant.

CMS is color management system. Its the chromacity point system that isn't fully working. Supposedly Mits was coming out with a software fix or some other for it. I don't know if they did or whether the problem was fixed in recent production.

Yes it is color management system. Can't fully calibrate the projector with out a 3D CMS unless you buy a VP like the lumagen.

I see Mark beat me to it. Mark was your HC9000 calibrated using your lumagen?

Gotcha,
Next Question
With regards to 3d if the emitter is on the projector and it is ceiling mounted and you are sitting under and behind the projector will the 3d work or would the glasses loose communication with the emitter.
I played around with this once but i was standing up.

Mike. We did it using my Lumagen.

Emitters work better if placed in front of the theater high up and aimed at the viewing audience. The will usually work if aimed at the screen from a position near the projector with the glasses picking up the IR signal bounced off the screen. This does require some experimentation as to aim and the strengtht of the emitter beam, the distances involved, and even the screen material type.

In other words, best if you can mount at the top of the screen facing toward the audience.

Wonder if a BD Screen would stop it from bouncing off the screen because of the Anti reflection...

IR is just light of a certain wavelength band. Screens reflect direct light so if the emitter shines on the screen and hits it at the right (correct angle) it should reflect back. How the particular reflective characterics are might affect things but I really don't know.

If the BD's reflectivity is purely a function of angle then it will inhibit reflection of IR signal the same as visible light.

It may inhibit it more or less depending on how reflectivity varies with wavelength.

So basically Noah, you are saying you really can't answer the question with respect to a BD screen. You could do it if you had a 3D projector using an emitter and at least one pair of the appropriate glasses and a BD screen but since you have none of the above you can't answer the question either. Just messing with you.

Well now that I look at what you said more closely, I have to agree that it's fair to say that my answer is just a more elaborate way of saying "I don't know"

Personally I thought it needs a good calibration as the colors were noticably shifted.

The HC9000 has no preset that is close to REC709 and you are - with the current version of the CMS - not able to tune anything in close to that.
