Talked to various levels of engineering at Mits projector customer service today.
After going up several levels they acknowledged that the CMS was not working and that no fix has come forth from Japan.
There is indeed a running changing designated as the HC-9000D Advanced, but that designates an improved power supply not a revision to make the CMS work. Same situation obviously for Canada. If your power supply is fine, I would not send a unit in for that update.
Obviously, Mits is obligated to make the CMS fix whenever it becomes available under warranty, regardless of whether new innards are required.
I would start a case with Mits customer service noting that your CMS doesn't work and that you would like notification and an RMA when such fix becomes available. If they come out with a new machine this year with a working CMS then you can make the obvious suggestions to them about remedies.
Speaking as a consumer, its not like some other company that has a less than successful CMS that one can work with extraordinary effort and time. This one just doesn't work.
