How do you go about calculating FOV? I'm curious what I'm getting with various setups I have.

Sorry, I'm not sure. That was just an off hand common sense estimate which may or may not be accurate. I just figured 46" from (say) 2.5' was going to be much higher than 45 deg. I'm sure someone can help us out with a real formula or something though.

I don't remember the exact equations (and I'm on my way out the door right now), but if you work your way through this page, you should be able to figure it out by the end.

Honestly, the only person's opinion I trust in this thread are David's.

Question for David: There are people saying there is a slight pincushion effect, can you comment on it and / or run a test pattern?

Are any of these used for focus? I'm hoping this is what the tester who experienced blurriness may need to adjust:

Did you experience the same?

That went away for me when i cover the openings with my hands.

I posted this to the wrong forum accidentally. But you can tell me what the oblong sliders in the picture are for.

I gotta say, I'm a little reassured that the release is only about a week-and-a-half away and we haven't heard of any further delays. This close to launch, Sony has to have a pretty good idea of the timeline, so no news is good news.

Good news for Londonites! "While Sony's Personal 3D Viewer will be available in all Sony stores from the end of October/beginning of November, those especially eager to get their hands on a pair of the video goggles should get themselves down to London's Harrods superstore, which has been supplied with some early stock". So those of who live in or near London could own one today.

Info came from http://3dtvreviewsblog.com/

Great news! This is a good indication of Sony's dedication to the launch window. Hope the states see a similar calendar of events.

Now that it's on sale already in London, we should hopefully start seeing more in-depth reviews and videos over the next few days. Haven't seen any unboxing videos pop up yet on YouTube. Hopefully someone who reads this thread over in London was able to buy one today.

Sure, right now it says :
items:1
Order Status: Shipping update
Estimated Ship Date: 10/18/2011
But I did not get any confirmation email that it shipped as it is supposed to according to the confirmation page when I bought it.

I looked up the estimated ship date for my order on Sony's website. It shows 09/21/2011, the day I placed the order online. I called Sony's toll-free number. The lady I spoke to told me my order is scheduled to ship out on 10/26.

I bet you that lady had no clue what she was talking about and I'm pretty sure she was looking at the same Sony Style web site we are all looking at where it says "shipping estimate on or around 10/26. I've had my own share of Micky Mouse stories with Sony customer service.
My gut feeling it will start shipping tomorrow like the poster above said.

I would not be so sure anymore as someone just after me posted they had an estimated ship date end of september... I placed my order yesterday the 17th so maybe the estimated ship date is just the day of order (+1?)

Yea the "estimated ship date" is just your order date + 1, just confirmed on mine.

Whether it shows the same date or +1 is likely down to what time you ordered.

After reading personal experiences from some forum members (Thanks so much guys really helpful into taking a decision) with this device, my finguer is nervously hovering the pre order button on the spanish SONY site, but estimated delivery is mid december

Nice to hear that is going to be realeased soon in UK, since SONY products are usually realeased same dates (more or less) in UK & Spain.

Mark has no news. No ship date given us yet. I think this thing is going to be delayed. Just a gut feeling. I don't think the people you guys are talking to know anything about when YOURS will be shipped. It is not shipping now and the best news I have is that when it goes to the Sony stores it will be shipped to Sony dealers and thus they will get it a few days later giving the Sony stores the ability to deliver it a few says before dealers can.

These make Projectors obsolete in the same way headphones make speakers obsolete.

(I do hope to get one though when they go to 1080p and hopefully come with replaceable batteries.)

The feature I'm looking forward to the most is wireless audio/video transfer, it feels like that would make usage so much easier, and give you more freedom.
