From the manual:

"You can store up to five combinations of
lens settings (focus, window size, window
position) and aspect ratio, and you can recall
those settings."

In the manual on page 34, 35, 36 there are diagrams showing the different screen configurations for different aspect ratios.

Is blanking stored with each aspect ratio?

Beyond being quite bright and having a largish screen, would there be much PQ improvement in viewing upscaled BR/HDTV for 2D viewing or does the 'wow' effect require native 4K source material?

Does the lack of response to the previous post mean the result is not so good?

If you check out the 3 or 4 other threads on this Forum, and one in AVForums, you will hear many testimonies that upscaled BD from the VW1000 is a significant improvement for 2d. 4K source material would of course be expected to be even better.

I haven't seen any specific reports re HDTV. My guess is that it would be spectacular with high quality HD channels; would be interesting to see what it would do with less pristine signals or even (heaven forbid!) SD.

There is an effect from the Reality Creation on 1080P sources, as the demo at ISE showed. There is no Reality Creation at 4K (or just 24P at 4K, reports a tad unclear on this, but I was only shown the scaling on a 1080P source).

It will depend on the quality of the HD TV signal. Overhere we have/had cable distributing the main public SD channels in 8 Mbit/s Constant Bit Rate. The BBC reduced their HD service down to so-called HD at about the same bit rate as the Dutch SD channels have on cable. The effect of AVC/H.264 is not that large.

I don't think either of these have been covered with the 1000ES, but if they have its time to review anyway now that this is out--

Is it true that these come with 2 pairs of 3D glasses? Can someone post a pic or model number? I know there are some really nice looking 3D glasses from Sony, I hope we get the latest and greatest...

I see that the 95ES is supported by Nvidia's 3DTV Play, which allows you to game with 3D Vision games on supported TVs/PJs using the 3D glasses designed for use with your screen instead of Nvidia's 3D Vision glasses. Has anybody tried the 95ES with an Nvidia HTPC/Gaming setup? Is it likely that it will be easy for Nvidia to add support for the 1000ES, or maybe even it will work out of the box since the 95ES is supported?

I know that does not seem to be the focus in this thread, but with the likely low latency and Sony's Playstation/Gaming push, I would think this would be a fantastic console or gaming HTPC projector. Especially with a 4K-capable card from AMD or one that hopefully comes out soon from Nvidia. (Well, except for the current 24p limitation for 4K but hopefully that gets taken care of in an eventual upgrade board)

4k gaming would be cool.. assuming you had probably two 7890's in crossfire mode or something to have enough power to run a modern game at that resolution.. BUT...since the projector is currently limited to 24hz input for 4k - you probably wouldnt like it much

Like I said, hopefully taken care of by an upgrade board when the specs are finalized, but even if you upscale, it should still be great with current hardware. Not sure if it would ever be great with a 4K input in 3D, but maybe...

Yes. It comes with two pairs of 3D glasses that are USB rechargeable. I'll try to takes some pics when I get a chance.

Ughh, I'm not sure where I saw the pic now of better ones than that, and they might have been prototypes. I would have hoped they would have come up with something sleeker for this rollout...

I have watched some SD content from TV stations and also put in some DVD without any previous scaling from AV-Receiver or player. Reality Creation made a good job. You can also ajust how strong the noise reduction is. I'am quite impressed by the result.

Is any one planning on using an AT screen with this projector? If so, what kind? Feel free to comment on tradeoffs.

Yes, I'm using an 11 foot wide 2.35 cinecurve AT(130 G3). I didn't have issues with my Marantz using the same screen either but the Sony looks much better.
