Too lazy to translate, but this link from April 2014 seems to imply a 8k shifting technology, though who really cares about that in reality...

Mike. I think you would know better than to admit that you know anything. Aren't you concerned that certain posters here might try and black mail you under the threat that if you don't tell them hush hush they will never buy from you again? I strongly suggest you play Sergeant Schulz.

Thrang has already asked about the Sony info indirectly. Just tell me if I will be unhappy or should I wait.

Yes, but the most pressing question is how will I new viewing next year's Center Ice package?

Dealers are in a tough spot when it comes to unannounced products, as they are equally beholden to manufacturers and their clients.

The reality is manufacturers really don't need to pre-announce at all to dealers if they want things truly buttoned up (or do they want leaks?) If they are trying to give a dealer heads up to clear inventory (and most dealers do not inventory much these days), they could easily start backordering SKUs they know will EOL a few months before the switch so inventory naturally depletes.

Now, dealers have some knowledge, which generally always leaks in some form, and they have a dilemma. Say nothing, and sell what they know is near EOL product, or whisper something and incur wrath from the manufacturer?

Most customers would not be pleased to purchase a premium priced product and later find it was replaced by a better unit at the same or lesser price a few months later, especially if they recognize the dealer knew. Customers do have a natural expectation that dealers are on their side to a large degree.

So rather than put dealers in such a spot, they should be legitimately be told nothing and maintain plausible deniability.

Unless of course, the leaks are desired in subtle ways.

In these two instances, the companies are seeking various to obtain the various expertise possessed by those given the information. This depending is engineering expertise, marketing etc. It is way premature for dealer ordering but, for example, the company might want a dealer estimate as to potential product success. how many does the dealer estimate it could sell at a given price point. It is clear from the info given me that many specifics are being with held perhaps because some of them are not known yet. it is very early in the process and remember not everything possible will be included based partly on cost and the need to hold things back so that something new and improved can be included in following year models. There are lots of depends and not on the ones you may wear.

I saw a leaked post about a new VPL-VW1200 for release in the fall. It will feature full 18GB HDMI chipset, wireless HDMI, better contrast, laser light source, and full 4K processing capability. There's also a new Sony game immersion for PS4 being introduced called flow.

April 1st. Now I get it but that was something from childhood. I thought is was still March given that March Madness (Women's and Men's div. 1 basketball semifinals and finals still going on). So you actually think I could fool someone here by claiming inside knowledge, which as a matter of fact I have as stated above. Also the people here on this thread, I suspect, with a few exceptions, have a level of intelligence and street smarts much higher than most other AV Science participants including my self. I would not try and fool anyone here.

Still no CMS given that lower priced 4K Sony projectors have it? They also forgot the new power supply needed for the blue laser pumped phosphor light source. I wouldn't trust your source.

I didn't do a bracket. I made some money line straight bets on the regional finals. Won on KY, Wisc, and Michigan State. Lost on Gonzaga. Going with KY and Duke in the semis.

Very interesting, and glad to see sony still committed to the high end projector space. I wonder if they're using the same light source as the VPLGTZ1. I do hope it has the same throw distance as the vw1000/11000.

To go back to the short discussion about the laser, short throw version of Sony's 4k projector, I thought the thing was a huge side hutch style furniture type device that must have housed large cooling systems or something like that. Now I see its available in a box that is the same height and width basically as the VW1100es. Its just twice as long. Surely one of the things they are coming out with this year is laser capability to the 1100es level projector. I am also assuming that part of the large extra cost for this unit is the quality of lens necessary for the ultra short throw... needing a lens that is top notch all the way to the corners. Perhaps a normal throw version with a lens like the 1100ES could be the same cost as the current 1100es.
