This one is interesting and consistent with latest conjecture

Appears Epson is going to re-tool the EH-R4000 and release when it can truly compete with the mid and upper level product? Whatever new version probably would not be out until 2013 for the various shows. Of course, that claim has been made before...I guess if you want this PJ you can pony up the $8k to bring over from Japan and then they are gone.

I was hoping they would release these, then figure out the market was limited due to lack of 3d. Then fire sale them like all the TV manufactures do with non 3d models.

2013? Wow. That's three whole years lost.

At this stage they've really given away the higher-end projector market to JVC and Sony, haven't they?

To me, this means that Epson has maybe scrapped the 1080p panels and is working on 4k panels. It would not take so long otherwise. My guess is that any high end projector in 2013 would have to be 4k.

I agree. I was rooting for these projectors because they fit most of my requirements. Sadly it didn't work that way.

I am within 2 months of finishing our new home/HT and this was the projector we were planning on using for my 2.35 CIH Screen. My HT guys NOW recommend either a JVC RS55 (No Anamorphic lens) vs dVision 35-WQXGA (No Anamorphic Lens) vs EPSON Pro 6010 along with Panamorph A480SYS lens.

I am actually happy that a piece of hardware that too so long to bring to market actually never made it to market as it likely has flaws.

My dilemma is which options is best for a 153 inch CIH screen in a room with complete light control. Any advice is appreciated !!! Thanks in advance.

I was also waiting for the 61000 to come out but I gave up waiting and bought the Sony vplvw95es earlier this year. Great projector! Check out the thread and see if it meets your criteria.

On HCFR I saw that the Epsons have been canceled indefinitely.

A French article linked here is the source. Sorry.

Not sure who your dealer is but I was talking with the guy Epson hires for dealer training this week and the word is still hush about any release that is eminent and the official last word is that there is no launch date and it is still shelved until further notice.

As far as pricing goes Epson has always been with the masses. They are seiko and just like they want a seiko watch on every wrist, and an Epson printer in every home, they also want a projector in the mass population of that market.

So despite the prices that were relative to the market at one time, that was years ago with any official slotted price. Epson has become better and better at getting the market and price points right. JVC and some other companies have come into the mass market.

Be wary of black market epsons being sold in Canada and the USA. Where do you think all the bad panel Epsons go.

I think that like the 3d they waited, addressed the biggest issue with the 3d and then came out with guns blazing. With there philosophy in marketing they can't afford to get it wrong.

I wouldn't be betting on it this month, and the later it gets into the spring it would just make more sense to hold off and come up with a new model and throw it on. Another chassis.

If they can come out with a street price LCOQ for under $2500, then I would be very interested. At the 2010 Cedia, the street for the entry model was supposed to be around $2500. No 3D, but it had CMS.

I wonder if Panny will jump into the LCOQ fray this year or if they are going to wait another year for Epson to refine the process.

I think Epson might expect everyone to be "blind" and think their tech is new and the best thing ever. It's worth $5000.....um, is it? LCOS isn't new, but "reflective" LCD is. Yeah!!!!!

My guess is they will just keep developing a product of some sort. With the most generous warranty on the planet it would be suicide to not have a bullet proof product.

I think it's more distracting to their other products to have this limp biscuit for two years. Too much wasted energy answering questions for a product that does not exist.

There are no LCD-Reflective projectors at all in Epson's lineup for CEDIA 2012:
