For 3D I suspect it will be a BEAST!!
300 watt lamp equates to one seriously bright image!!! Combined with the legendary sharpness. This may well be the unit to beat as far as 3D goes.

Odd how they went from a 280watt lamp to 300 but listed lumens dropped from 2500 to 2000.

I wish DLP manufaturers would get on board with Motorized Lens shift/zoom/focus.

Could be a great unit.

Just when I was ready to pull the plug on a Mitsubishi when it comes out.

I have the 5000 and if this new unit is even better, I will be buying! The 5000 has been flawless, so I am really looking forward to the full specs on this unit.

If they improve the contrast, this will be a winner.

I am curious where the pricing will be. Any ideas?

not sure if the contrast is any better seeing it's still 50,000 but who knows about the tinier details. i saw frame interpolation in the specs. i went for the refurb w6000 this morning and not into waiting another two months for something. kid will go ape on me after awhile. curious how the new version performs over the old one.

Hopefully they followed the others and this will also be a 6x color wheel...

I hope W7k is DC3 chip. Combine with W6k lens + 3D would be a great replacement for W6k. Also, would like to see Dynamic Iris + Manual Iris so that we can cut down the lumens in 2D mode.

Yeah, better blacks would be good, more aggressive iris without being noticeable. Keeping a low price point will be cruciual with the Panny 7K, Sony HW30 and JVC RS45 all being around $3K.

I have the W-5000 now and the blacks aren't great. I understand the 6000 had better contrast so hopefully the 7000 will be a little better than that in 2d mode.

With the price of the 6000 at 1500.00 I may buy two of those and go with a passive setup. Anyone tried that with the 6000?

No but I'd think this would be much harder than just doing an inexpensive 3D DLP like Optoma HD33, and would be more expensive than going with a JVC RS45 (if you call AVS for quote that is)...I think stacking them is "iffy."

It would be nice to see more projectors in the $2000 to $2500 space come out, that space is pretty empty right now...

This looks like a cross between the W6000 and the big brother BenQ SP890 business projector with the brighter lamp (I have both at my work).

With this lens shift similar to the LCOS and LCD units and the bright lumens, this could make a great dedicated 3D projector.

Are there any reports of the color wheel speed? I hope it's been increased over the previous gen models.

WOW, had no idea that they announced a new successor for the W6000. About time if you ask me... I hope they significantly made the contrast better and yes 6x color wheel speed please.

But I wonder how this will match against low end 3D projectors such as the new Optoma HD33? Will the picture quality between the two vary significantly to justify almost a 2 grand increase in price?

What do you guys think?

I Love Apple, BenQ, Samsung, and Acer Products = )

HArd to say at this point. Will sure be interesting to see how it stacks up against some of the other 3d projectors being released.

I have my doubts that it will do any better than the Acer 5360 that I have but having two projectors, is a bit of a pain. I have the benq W5000 as well for 2d.

Going to 1080P for 3d probably won't make a difference at 12', which is my viewing distance.

The W6000 was a $3K pj when it came out, only dropped dramatically recently. The W7000 will probably be the same and not supposed to compete directly with the cheap DLPs (like the Optoma 8300). Hope I'm wrong on this but with improved pq I think they'll want a premium for it. If they price it according to market pressure, I'm thinking 25-3000. I too am hoping for a faster wheel, and that it comes out before my RS45 gets here!

I'm interested in this as well. I have a W6000 and the brighter 890SP @ work. I like the lens shift on these projectors and both are quite sharp. even if they did nothing else other than add 3D, I think it would make a good dedicated 3D projector if they could sell around 2.5k. A faster color wheel would be great as well.

hopefully this makes it to market soon.

I wonder if they'll put better optics in this model...also what their 3D frame rate will be.

I wish they would fix the noise issue. 34/36db for the w7000 is unacceptable. That's 2-3 times louder than my current pj! I'd kill to get rid of convergence but can't stand the noise. Is it so hard to build a huge enclosure with a massive low rpm fan, or is it simply the fact that people do not care (or probably don't have an HP screen which requires your pj to be mounted inches from our head)?

Specs should be published in about a week. RBE should not be much of a problem on this projector.

I wonder if those unofficial fan noise numbers are a typo. I can't see anyone launching a projector designed for HT use with early 2000s fan noise type specs. I did see that some did complain that the W6000 was slightly louder than other models. The only thing I could see is that they went with a very high lumen bulb for 3D use. It would be the only reasonable reason if the machine runs this loud.

Or may be the color wheel speed may increase noise?
In the Infocus SP8602 thread people complain that when the CW is at 6x, it's loud.

thanks Mike, I am looking forward to finding out more info. I have a W6000 and SP890 @ work, both are quite sharp considering the lenses don't look very expensive.

Even with the high wattage SP890, it's relatively quiet - I can't imagine 36db from the new model. I heard the Optoma VL500 LED recently, wow that is awfully loud and rated @ around 36db which I certainly believe.

If I recall, I was able to use the SP890 with my HP screen mounted a few inches above my head where the rest of the projectors are. Hopefully the W7000 has the same lens shift.

I hope they street under 3k.
