I believe they will send the image to your pj, the RS55 just won't be able to send a true 4k image to the screen. Should be the 1080P image your pj can manage with e-shift. Stick with the RS55 until you have to change.

True, though I usually try to note what reviewers list as their equipment and look for those with projectors. At least a few are. I can't recall a single instance of a reviewer noting this on several prominent titles. I searched, but found nothing.

Question. I am playing a 4K file from my media player, but when I take a look at the video setting, pressing the info button on the pj remote, it shows the source file to be 1080p 24. Isnt the rs55 supposed to switch to the correct (higher resolution?)
Also, if I set my media player to 4K output, the pj hoes blue. As if it has lost signal.

Current setup: JVC RS55 - Marantz 7008 - Dune Solo 4K - Kodi/Chromebox - Cinema 10's LCR - Volt 10 Surrounds - Polk in wall rear & ceiling - eD A7-450

The rs55 cannot display 4K content.

Correct. It sort of outputs 4Kish via e-shift but can not accept a 4K input.

I hate revisiting this thread, but I just got finished watching Allied, which has some of the most beautiful cinematography I have ever seen. I would consider buying this film, but it too has strobing in darker scenes. Did anyone ever figure out what causes this? Why would anyone leave thus in the source? I wonder if it is noticeable in the theater or if perhaps it is an issue related to the transfer to digital media.

I don't have Allied. Is this the Blu-ray or UHD BD? I'd be curious to learn whether or not a title that has this on BD also has it on UHD.

It was not the UHD, just standard BD. I would also like to know whether this shows up in the UHD. It really is too bad, because some of the naturally lit scenes are as good as PQ gets.

I have watched " Allied " on UHD Blu-ray twice, and have not seen any flicker.

I'm going to guess it's DI related. I've merged your thread into the owner's thread. You can continue to post and follow the discussion here.

Considering purchasing a used X70r and wondering if the model is as good as current models being offered in terms of pic quality. Is a X70R around $2,000 consider a good value purchase?

thanks......
