The JVC Consumer Canada site does not include length or warranty info and I would call them before assuming an X30 purchased in Canada came with a 3 year warranty. It is my understanding that JVC USA will not perform warranty service on a Canada unit and that JVC Consumer Canada will not perform warranty service on a USA JVC. Dealers are expressly prohibited from cross border selling of JVC and duties would have to be paid to go to a foreign country to bring one back or have a friend buy one and ship it accross the border.

Perhaps this is a Canada only warranty?
If you check out the first photo I posted in my original posting, you can clearly see a sticker showing the 3 year warranty!

As per above

I did contact Mike and told me, he could not sell me one, as I live in Canada.
BUT he still spend another 30 minutes or so to try to help me out in my decision!!!
So if you live in the States, I would recommended him just for GREAT Customer service.
He Knew he was not making a sell but still spend time to help a fellow AVS forum member.

Thanks Mike and also Dave (Canadian retailer) who speed time to help me out.

Perhaps, because we pay more in Canada for our stuff, JVC gives us one additional year of warranty to ease the pain...LOL!

Every Canadian dealer for the X30 has told me that it has a 3 year warranty from JVC Canada. So I'm sure they would be correct and wouldn't just make that up. I have been told that be three seperate dealers.

David,

If you can, please post your opinion on the JVC's 2D to 3D converter.

AVForums posted that the projector's converter added genuine depth to the 2D Blu-ray of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Your take on the projector's 2D to 3D conversion of this disc - or any other BD, HDTV show, sports, and/or game - would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I will.
However I am waiting for the 3D emitter to arrive tomorrow.
Got the glasses but no emitter....

I did try the 2D to 3D mode and the image was predictably blurry in the 3D sense so I guess it does work.

This feature alone prompted me to get the emitter plus the 5 pairs of 3D glasses which I need for my family which added a quite substantial over $750 (with tax) to the cost of the projector....

I have a Canadian X3 and the warranty definitely is 3 years. Can't imagine it would be different on the X30.

That's great news for Canadian purchasers. US purchasers from JVC USA only get two year warranties on the RS45 and RS55, but get a three year on the RS55. Whats the Canadian MSRP converted to US dollars for an X30?

Canadian MSRP is $3699.99 but street price seems to be in the $3150 range.
(I hope I am not breaking any forums rules by posting prices...)

The Canadian dollar is down these few weeks so with the exchange being at 1.05 today makes it USD$3000 street price.

We unfortunately have to pay 13% tax here which inflates the out the door price to USD$3400.

Update:

The emitter arrived today and I quickly did a 3d test.
I did not experience the ghosting as described on the other tread.

The 3D or I should say quasi 3D looks kinda cool but lacks the true 3D with the image popping out the screen effect. (as I expected)

I watched Pirates of the Caribbean movie and saw the effect more on certain scenes.

The colour settings were totally different though being dimmed compared to 2D.

I played around quickly with the colour settings and it improved quite a bit to the point of being watchable.

I have to step out now but will be back in a few hours to play with it more.

Also got to go and buy me some 3D movies! LOL!

Amazon had some good deals on 3D blu-ray (Narnia, IceAge, and should have a good deal on Tron 3D later on Monday) so you can test.
Please do report and let us know the ghosting on blu-ray frame-packed 3D. thanks!

Actually Alot of provinces in Canada you only pay 5% tax as I did and 3 places I got quotes from were all 2995, but that was several weeks ago, I do beleive the prices were gonna go up.

The Pirates was a 2D movie.
It's the 2D to 3D upconverting that I wanted to test.

I have an x30 as from yesterday and great 2d picture in my eyes . 3d bettter than x3. Brighter and slight less crosstalk. I put on a few crosstalk scenes I experienced on the x3.

Projector still needs 30 mins plus to warm up to 3d

Crosstalk canceller does not do a fat lot. very very slight

What did work for me was the Parallax setting for ghosting, but when you remove it from one scene it comes back on another !! Been mentioned on the uk forum that it doesnt alter crosstalk, but on the scenes I have checked it did !

At the end of the day I am very happy with the projector. Good 2d and I think handled motion very well, and I am pleased with 3d too. So much depth to some scenes.

2D to 3D ok but not eye popping , dont think I will use this.

Of course need more time to play around with lens memory etc.

I have to point out I am no av expert but I just wanted to give my opinion.

I am happy with the x30 and I suggest that nothing but nothing is better than getting a demo first and make your own mind up

And just to add that crosstalk is not visable all the way through a movie just certain little bits and did no way put me off watching. New glasses feel nice but with my wife wearing glasses they are a bit close to her glasses. However they are comfortable and do the job .

Yes very pleased. No doubt other opinions will differ from mine as far as forums go..lol ! But I appreciate we all have different opinions. Sure the 3d could be better in terms of crosstalk, but like I say " it is slightly better than the x3 " and there is no way I can see it all the time and on every scene . Nor is it totally distracting !!
I owned a Hd1 previously and an X3 for a couple of weeks so I have no idea how it compares to anything else !
The good scenes on 3d really do pop out .
The underwater scene in Pirahna looked too dark on my x3, but looks much much better on the x30 in terms of brightness. ( new glasses help )

Did you notice any disturbing flickering when watching 3D content? Did you test the CMD (clear motion drive) in 2D mode - if so, has it improved in therms of artifacts around objects?

Is your x30 brighter than the x3 in 2D best mode?
Claims are more lumens this year than last.

No flickering at all , for me or the wife on this model or the older x3. However a mate said he saw flickering on the old X3......... must be a personal thing !? Never used CMD and I did try it for about 3 mins watching Transformers and didnt like it on my eyes.... However Dont quote me on that as I am trying to try too many things at once ...lol !

Just been trying a ps3 game which looked bad for crosstalk on the x3. Wipeout 3d ... It seems to look more 3d this time around, and less crosstalk ! Again moving the parallax setting reduced it furthur without reducing 3d in my eyes.

To be honest it looked that way , but without putting a x3 next to the x30 I honestly cant comment. It looks really bright though.
