This is what I was worried about - idiot (or lying) salespeople who will tell you whatever you want to hear to get the sale.
Overall, I'm not too impressed with their store phone folks, or their "live chat" personnel.
When I called the 800 BenQ store number, a live person picked up and just said "Steve".
No "Hello, thank you for Calling BenQ", "How can I help you", "BenQ Shop", just... "Steve".
I assumed I had the wrong number, and replied, "Sorry, I was calling the 800 sales number for the shop.BenQ.com website".
He said "That's me"... then silence. after telling what I was looking for, His longest reply was "It's been shipping since last week".
Oddly, on the "live chat" option, which I tried after talking with "Steve", it was pretty much the same. It was like the person on the other had simply copied "It's been shipping since last week" and was then simply pasting it every time I asked a clarifying question.
"Hi, I'm looking to purchase a W7000, but i want to make sure I purchase one with the updated 1.03 firmware. How do I go about confirming that this is what is shipping?""It's been shipping since last week".
"Great! SO if I were to purchase one today directly from the BenQ store, it would ship with the updated 1.03 software?""It's been shipping since last week".
"That's good news! I have a local company that I would like to buy from who sell your products. They mention that they haven't received any word from BenQ on updated units being sent to them yet. Is that maybe because large lots to resellers may take a while to update and ship?"Again - It's been shipping since last week".
Infuriating. I'm going to end up spending my projector-bound tax refund on a car repair, or the summer electric bill, or some other mundane "necessity" before they release this thing.
