Hi guys.

After 717 hrs of use, my JVC light output is growing ever darker.
Light output is down about half what it was last time I calibrated.

Im going to look into getting a new lamp for it, but cost aside, I see there is more than one brand of lamp which can do the job. There are OEM's, Diamond, etc. Most are rated to 3000 hours.

Could somebody who has had prior experience buying lamp make some recommendations? brand, retailer to buy from, etc?

I live in Australia. The official lamp replacement part number appears to be BHL5010-S

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Have you tried AVS? I did some price comparisons and they were the least expensive and I wanted to support the forums anyway, a two-fer.

Are you aware of the prism/lamp hazing issue?

Thanks Noah.

After seeing the link and trying this out it appears to have made a huge difference
Ill get my i1Pro out and do some measurements later, but it was noticably hazy and the lamp was a little dusty also.

The image looked immediately sharper (so THATS what BluRay is supposed to look like, hah!) but the calibration will tell what sort of brightness increase Ive gained.

Thanks so much for the link.

myprojectorlamps.com uses phillips, with the option to buy the whole lamp assembly, or just the bulb at a pretty good price. AVS would be a good choice ultimately, b/c you know you are getting an OEM bulb/housing.....

Damo,

After you have had time to evaluate, please do post back here with your post prism cleaning brightness impressions!
