When comparing with the same photo from other projectors below, remember that the exposures are all a bit different, and you have to compensate, if you want to draw your own conclusions."
Until reviewers start posting exif data, all projector settings, screen details and room treatments, comparing photos from different reviews (let alone different reviewers!) is a rather pointless path to pursue... Heck, even if they had done that, I've never calibrated my computer monitor, so I'm in no position to make judgements either wink.gif

Ok, that's very strange. I just looked at Art's PD8150 review and for the train shot image he doesn't say anything about it being overexposed?? Here is the copy/pasted words from the page that has the night train shot> http://www.projectorreviews.com/planar/pd8150/imagequality.php

Our last comparison uses the night train scene from Casino Royale. Look to the trees and shrubs on the right, especially just above the tracks. The first image is the Planar, while the second one is from the less expensive InFocus IN83. Note, the PD8150 image appears a little blurred, put that down to user error when I took the photo:

As you can see, both do extremely well, with almost identical performance. You can see a little more detail in the Planar photo, but you'll also notice it's a little brighter. Basically it's pretty much a tie, between these two excellent projectors.

Additional images widely used in our reviews for considering shadow detail, are found below.

The larger the zoom range, the larger the contrast on/off difference. JVC's have large zoom ranges---about twice more than a typical DLP PJ. With that much zoom adjustment, it starts to act like a manual iris, which helps reduce light scatter (increasing contrast when zoomed down). PJ's with small zoom ranges typically have much much smaller affects on the on/off contrast.

The HD750 has a 2x zoom
The Acer has only a 1.2x zoom

JVC's typically have a larger on/off variance with zoom, but I don't remember a 40% difference (assuming ONLY the zoom was changed, not the manual iris, etc.).

The Acer will most likely have a very small difference in on/off variance with it's typical DLP limited zoom set up. At the very least, no DLP has come close to the on/off variance you mentioned when only zoom was changed.

Remember, the on/off contrast number differences between the AVF review and Kraine's is at min 400%, up to a 1000% difference!

Sorry flea... Runco LS-5 review. My bad.

I wonder what he'd think about 3D IMAX?

No direspect at all wink.gif There is no need to comment the picture of casino royal in my review it's only a grab picture and not a screenshot from the Acer. This picture is only there for my readers so they are able to know wich part of the movie I'm referring.

The PRO9000 is much much quieter than the K750 even in high lamp mode, but I'm waiting for my sample to finalize my conclusion.

By the way the official price of the PRO9000 will be 1999 euros so under 3000 dollars, this thread belong to the other forum under 3000$ projectors.

Pity they didn't show the movie presentation in more favourable conditions. Maybe then, you'd have a better idea of the black levels of this unit. Anyways, great job Kraine! And looking forward to your thoughts!

I was able to watch the PRO9000 without lights in the room for a short time, the black level seems very good, at least as good as the K750.

both 90% i could say the same
but with different room and name !!!

so i don't i expect pro9000 much better then k750 or worse
i can say slight difference here and there with the software features ( various company ) but with the same materials employed on them !!
all of that we will see the deference but not faraway from each others
something better here other better there
i'm missing something biggrin.gif
we have to wait and see
end of story tongue.gif

"at least as good as the K750." The Acer black levels still is a mystery to some and also debatable still. cool.gif

Threads are usually started in the price point that they are originally priced at when first released.

Good example is the ViewSonic Pro8100 that started at $5,000 and once released for consumer purchase dropped below $3,000. Stayed in the >$3K thread tho. smile.gif

In space, no one can hear you scream . . .

Nice review, thanks.

Gotta love Google Translate: "The overall score is amputated by colorimetry is far from optimum gearbox output, calibration is required in the case of PRO9000. "
