I own SonyVPL-VW100 for 5 years at approximately 3000 hours per year. It appears to be less bright with each new bulb change. Now have only 900 hours on this lamp and picture is dark. Does the projector get dusty/dirty in light path and need to be cleaned after extensive use?

So I think you are tells us that after 15,000 hours of operation the projector appears dim. Somewhere in this thread someone sent in a VPL VW50 for repair. The Sony technician told him the light engine was only designed to last for 5000 hours. Maybe the real life is somewhere in between. If the colors look OK it might need to go back to the factory for a good cleaning. Don't recommend taking it apart yourself. 3000 hours a year is something like 8 hours a day. Is that correct? It is good to know the projector is still running but a bit dim. It could be something in the lamps power supply.
