Yep, sure does show it for the 2011 CEDIA show. But, it also shows this as a model between the RS45 & RS55. Is it available here or somewhere else?? I have an aging RS2 and I'm searching for a good replacement. I'm still pretty happy with my RS2, but after 5 years, it may be time to start looking .......... I want to be able to do 3D now and then, but mainly my focus is with 2D.

I saw the RS4800 at CEDIA 2011 last Sept. (just sitting on a display stand and not operating). It appears to be based on the RS45 but it is intended to be sold thru custom installers at a substantially higher price than the RS45, but it does come with a spare lamp and a 3-year warranty (rather than 2 years). HERE is the press release from CEDIA 2011.

The Rs48 is just a rebadged RS45 with an extra lamp. It is only being sold through one distributer to custom dealers who will demand a higher price point. The price difference is way more than the cost of an extra lamp.

A little OT but in the ballpark. I have an RS1. Moving again and thinking of upgrading. Want brighter image if possible but good quality. Where is sweet spot right now? DO not need or want 3d.
Thanks
Paul

Let's see if the 4K RED projector lives up to the hype. If so, we'll all be buying that

If people are expecting 4K and or laser to hit main stream this year, I think people are going to be very disappointed.

You can't be too sure. Toshiba just recently announced that they will launch a 4K resolution HDTV in Japan next month, so 4K is starting to slowly gain momentum. Maybe the Sony vw1000 has given JVC a reason to be more competitive and add native 4K panels to their next lineup of projectors. Maybe they can put the e-shift tech on their lowest model and make the mid and high end models capable of true 4K. A lot of maybes, but you never know!
