I'm having a problem with my sony projector (old yes) where the LAMP/COVER indicator is lit and the projector will not display a picture. I turn on the projector and receive a picture for approximately 30 seconds until the indicator lights and the display turns off (including flashing On/Standby light).

The thing I don't understand is, the projector appears to be displaying perfectly well in the period before this happens. It also never gave the replace bulb warning before the issue. I'm weary to buy a bulb if the issue is somewhere else.

I attempted to reset the bulb counter by pressing "reset, left, right, enter" in that order while in standby (projector on light is red?) but it doesn't seem to have fixed this issue, though I can't figure out a way to tell if it was *actually* reset.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Bump perhaps? Even if someone will tell me how to better clarify?

If the lamp strikes and then the projector turns off, that probably is not a lamp. Rather it might be a fan/cooling issue, or some electronic problem.
