I should defer to the senior members, but I can't wait. The conventions come early this year!

CEDIA 2012
September 5 – 8
Indiana Convention Center
Indianapolis, IN

Any rumors about projectors at CEDIA, that won't be scooped by IFA?

IFA 2012
August 31 - September 9
Berlin

For IFA this will be the thread http://www.avsforum.com/t/1420161/ifa-berlin-2012-kraines-live-report-from-germany

Yay! This surely means that values of current projectors will drop before I go back to school.

I have a minor scoop for those reading my thread. JVC will release 4 new models this season. Only the 3 higher end models will have 4K interpolation. Price points will be about the same. The low end model (no 4K interpolation) will be a bit cheaper. They will move to RF for 3D glasses and not IR. Otherwise we have to wait until IFA to know the exact details.

Hmmm, a lower price on the RS45 and a new model above the RS65?

I am thinking more along the lines of a model below the 45 and the 45/55/65 get their successors, similar to when the 250 JVC was released. Interesting (if the rumor is true) that it looks like all 3 models will have the 4k e-shift this round instead of just the upper 2 (assuming the 4th model does indeed fall below the 45 successor).

But will they have the early bulb dimming & 3D ghosting issues addressed.

Remember there is already 4 models with the DLA-RS4800 in the RS-series lineup (aimed for custom installers) between the RS45 and RS55.

Adding 4K to the 4800 makes more sense to me. That would help separate it some from the 45 and help with its higher price point. That is my guess.

Good call Ron/Mike. I forgot about the 4800.

Lets hope so. Some BIG improvements are certainly needed as far as ghosting goes.

If they add the e-shift to the lower end JVC model, I would be all in for that model. After having the RS55 then the Benq W7000, I have a new sense of how important different technology work. The W7000 excels in probably all the areas that the JVC needs improvement in. Both is an excellent match. Good thing I can have a two projector set up, even though I actually use 3

This may not be the thread to post this but is it worth going to CEDIA? I live about 4-1/2 hours away. So if you figure the drive time (I wouldn't stay over night) gas, food and parking, it would be a long and expensive day.

I do plan to purchase a projector and screen at the end of this year, or sooner.

Great so they're switching over to RF huh? I guess JVC people who own the IR model glasses will be out of luck huh?!

I guess we'll find out more closer to Cedia.

Depends on the show. There have been great ones, and ones you leave yawning. Hard to tell. I will say you won't likely need more than a day unless you want to see everything.

I sure hope so. If they do have 4k or e-shift tech in the RS45 price range projector, I'll be all over it for sure and won't mind to have the room finished but no projector for 2 month (if it is early Dec., but have heard from other retailer in November). rolleyes.gif

If they fix 3D ghosting and add 4K tech for $3K street I'd be all over it.

I don't see the RS45 replacement getting the 4K technology. If three JVC projectors get it, I think it will be the replacements for the RS65, RS55 and RS4800. Just my guess.

CEDIA is not open to the general public per say. You have to have credentials to get inside. Usually they only give out credentials to members of the press, a/v retail owners, and manufacture reps. It used to be pretty easy to sign up online and just say that you worked for a magazine or online site and they would mail you a credential with no questions asked, but I have heard that they have tightened up their policies.

Matts,

It's still easy to get in, all you need is a sponsor. Just do a Google search for a Cedia code. I already have registered and have my letter with the bar code. You just scan the code at one of the hotel kiosks and you get your credentials.

Ah ha I see. Well in that case I would definitely go. It looks like this could be another big year for digital projectors.

The RS45 prices were great this year (Thanks AVS!) so if they go a bit cheaper then what a deal! I don't have to have 4k but if the picture is improved (over an already great picture) with some nice additions to 3D them I'm all in. Less ghosting, brighter 3D, and FI in 3D would be great! It would be nice to see an improvement in black levels as well. If only JVC would implement a DI to help already great black levels.

Looking forward to the new offerings.............be nice if JVC added a supplimentary panel in line with the E-Shift panel or even laminated to the E-shift panel, one that could go from clear to dark.....with the application of a voltage, a dynamic dimming panel if you like, that could outperform a mechanical D.I

May the success of a Nation be judged not by its collective wealth nor by its power, but by the contentment of its people.

Thought I read some speculation concerning Mitsubishi coming out with a 4k projector using the same panels as the Sony 1000es...............$10,000-$12,000.

If any of the premium projector manufactures (Runco, SIM2, DPI, etc) -- those in the DLP camp -- show new 4K models, they will probably have lofty price tags and larger than usual footprints, because it is unlikely that TI is going to develop a new smaller 4K chip, given the limited size of the consumer two-piece projection market. That means Runco/SIM2/DPI will have to build around the 1.38" DMD chip (4096x2160) used in commercial theater projectors. The upside: If you can afford one of these, it will likely trump the lower-cost LCOS offerings in overall performance.

I have never had any problem getting into a show. ONce you are registered, you are in the system every year.

If you are planning on buying anything HT related, then it is a good idea to attend. Most everything is there under one roof allowing one to easily find what you like. You might even be shocked at what you like.wink.gif

' lofty price tags', that's being kind considering the cost of current 3 chip 2K models from those manufacturers, the 4K versions will transcend the stratosphere to the outer limits!
