Please help me strike while the iron is hot. My wife has greenlit a new projector to upgrade my Dell 3400MP (I know that anything I get will be better than this)

Here are my considerations:

I do not care about 3D at all.

gaming 50%
movies 30%
hd tv 20%

This is a dedicated theater room with little to no lighting issues during the day.

The projector is a ceiling/upside down mount. The throw is about 15ft. The screen is 170"

I care the most about the quality of the image during movies.

I do not want to sacrifice gaming lag at the expense of a quality movie image though.

To me it feels like the JVC RS45 is the right choice, but I'm having trouble convincing the wife of the additional cost.

Everyone's thoughts are welcome. Please suggest another projector if I should consider it.

Thanks to everyone that speaks up.

My 2 cents is JVC can't light up that size screen. For your scenario EPSON 6010 is the best. Good for gaming 2d,3d, movies. It is thx certified and comes with a great warranty spare bulb, and all the other accessories. If it was a smaller screen then JVC is the best.

Thanks for such a quick reply. I'll consider the 6010 as well. What screen size would you suggest be the maximum for the RS45 from my throw distance?

With a 50% gaming priority, I would scratch both Epson and JVC off my list due to lag alone.

JVC 3D: Been there, done that, bought a DLP

Depends on the gain of the screen. If its a 1.0 gain screen, I say 130in at max. Some use higher but it depends mainly on your preference

Yeah choose a screen with a gain 1.0 or more but not too high since other issues come into play. Then you can go like the above poster said 130inch max. Also like toe said If it is 50% games then lag maybe an issue. If you are a hard core gamer go for the benq. Please google best gaming projector for 2012 EPSON vs benq. And you will get a link to a review done by the website projector reviews describing in detail.
Good luck.
