Use this JVC calculator

http://pro.jvc.com/pro/lens_calc/HTML/jvc_REF.html

I would say if your max throw is 11.5ft, I would settle with a 100in wide screen.

I've never seen that from JVC before- thanks. I was using the calculator and projectorcentral which indicates I might be able to go up to 106- that worked well for my FPJ1 a few years ago but maybe I should just wait to be certain.

You couldn't have tried that hard. All you need to do is call Mike over at the AVS store and he'll get you lined out. He'd prefer not to have the pre order pricing floating all over the net.

Thanks to everyone who PMd me.

I've got the pricing. I didn't want to call and waste Mike's time. I don't want to wait on a line and I live in NY and don't want to pay tax.

Yeah. I'm completely okay with that. I just want to know what the street price is. What's wrong with that? It's called comparison shopping.

I've bought plenty from AVS over the years from Alan, Jason and Mark H. I don't even know who Mike is.

LG's not doing anything wrong and with as much as he's bought and contributed over the years I doubt even AVS finds this to be an issue. wink.gif

Agreed. If LG is a bad guy for doing this, then put me on that same list since I am guilty as well the past 2 years with my 40 and 45. Hell I price match with other things all the time such as blu ray, landscape materials, etc, etc........ I call it being a good shopper and I have also purchased plenty from AVS in the past. Not to mention if I do end up sticking with my 4810 order this year, I am back to buying JVC through AVS (my local dealer has been HORRIBLE with after sale support so I am done buying through him rolleyes.gif)

Here is a pic of my wife showing off the screen after we put it up smile.gif

I said I got everything else in my theater ready.. I guess the only thing that is "ready" is the screen. The rest is still in boxes.

(pairing the 380 with a JVC DILA projector is generally not recommended because of a retro-reflection issue that those kinds of projectors have with anamorphic lenses but if you can live with it it’s up to you)

Saw this on an eBay sale for the UH380 Lens. Not sure what that means or if it applies but I thought I'd at least bring it to your attention

I've been happily using an Isco II lens with my HD350/RS10 and plan to carry on using it with my X35 when it arrives. I've never heard of a retroreflection issue with the lens (unless the lens isn't coated) which has nothing to do with the projector it is used with. I have suffered a reflection issue inside my JVC which relocating the projector and applying lens shift resolved. (It had this issue with the lens removed so confirmed it was internal to the projector).

I don't know how a UH380 compares to an Isco II, but I'd have thought that so long as the throw is long enough to avoid excess pincushion, then you're good to go.

Zooming: Been there, done that, bought the lens...

\

I am aware of the issue and I'll give it a go and see if I see the retro-reflection or not. If I do, there apparently is an easy fix to it that I found from a while back that was incorporated into the UH480. Shouldn't be to hard to rectify.

Here is a quote from the article I found:

"The fix is simple - angle the rear-most optical element in the lens (essentially a square glass plate) so that it directs light to the left or right of the lens, preventing it from hitting the polarizers. Doing so required a properly sized hex wrench to remove the screws on the top and bottom of the lens casing and removing the rear optical element. At this point you'll see a set of notched plastic "ribs" on both the top and bottom of the case that holds the rear optical element in place. Shawn just had me re-notch the ribs with an exacto knife so that the element could be installed at about a 15° angle. When looking from the rear of the lens, the left edge of the element was about 1/2" deeper in the case than the right edge. The whole procedure took about an hour, mostly because you want to be careful with the optical elements (no smudges) and careful with notching the ribs. The procedure itself was quite simple though, and it worked brilliantly!"

I just emailed myself the fix, so unfortunately I do not have the link to credit the source.

Guys, I know this has been probably asked but, what exactly is the specialized final quality control that the 4810 has? Is JVC doing an extra inspection for very good convergence OOTB and checking if there are any faults at all with the projector? Maybe checking if the sharpness of the units are exceptional? I'd like to know. Thanks.
