Benq W7500 with the same screen plus 2 sets of 3D glasses for $3900
Or a Sony HW55ES for $4200. No glasses and no screen.

I know the Sony is the better projector all around, better picture, better blacks, just better.

But I look at the Panny and it's lens is a big plus. I do love the DLP pop the Benq offers and the free glasses is a big bonus.

Is there much of a difference in PQ and blacks from the Panny and the Sony?

While one projector may be good at one thing, another projector may be better at something else. It depends what you are using it for (movies, 3d, games, tv, etc). I use mine for lots of movies and games. Since I have a 2.35 screen I love the lens memory so it auto switches between aspect ratios and the input lag is low for gaming. Panasonic also had an awesome Black Friday deal last year that a lot of us here got so it was too good to pass up. I don't know too much about the Benq W7500, but the Sony does look nice from everything I've read. If it had lens memory I would have considered it. If I had to do it all over again this year, I'd get the Panny because you can still get a really good deal on it for it's price around this time of year.

Thanks for the reply mate. Any suggestions on where to look on black Friday for a deal? What did you pay last year if I may ask?

The deal posted above by old corps is probably as good as it will be. That's about $150 cheaper than last year's deal if I remember correctly.

Edit: It looks like B&H also has the same deal and ships internationally as well. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...D_3D_Home.html

With the price at $1699, I'm going to pick one up as I want to do CIH. My room is 22'L x 12.5'W with 10' ceilings. I'm planning to do a 130" 2.35 screen which will give me a 104" 16:9. I'm trying to figure out where to mount the projector though. If I am reading the numbers on projectorcentral correctly, would a 16' throw give me enough light to do both with zooming?

Did a Chat with Rich at PP and he said it will probably drop a little more on Black Friday. Said probably less than $100 more off.

Is there any reason I shouldn't jump on one of these deals? I am sure they have a new projector in the works but I am also sure its going to cost a lot more than the current prices. I'm on the fence and just need a push in either direction. I currently that an Epson 8500UB if that helps any.

I know matched with my Carada screen, it looks on par with my older Samsung TV. Which has a really nice picture, but not as nice as my newer D8000. I mean If you are a videophile you may find a lot of things wrong, but IMO it looks good out of the box. I was shocked how good HTTYD2 looked with this projector. I mean the colors and detail were pretty incredible for the price point.

Just ordered the PT-AE8000U from Projector People. They have a good deal going on right now ($1999, minus $300 instant savings, minus 4% for Black Friday purchase) - so $1631.04. Includes extra year (3) warranty and 2-day shipping. They also have the EW3D3W glasses on sale for $69 (minus 4% again, $66.24) so grab a couple of those, as well.

I'm upgrading from a PT-AE3000U that I'm looking to sell. From what I've read here, it sounds like the 8000U will be a noticeable upgrade from the 3000U.

I do have a question on the 3D feature. Is there anything else I need to do to prepare my system for optimal 3D performance? My room is a dedicated/dark theater. My AVR is an Onkyo TX-SR607. My DVD is a Sony BDP-S5100. I am using the original HDMI cable (circa 2006-2007) from AVR to the Projector location. (I do have an extra 25ft 22AWG CL2 High Speed HDMI 1.3 from Monoprice that I'm not using, but would prefer not to pull out the old and fish a new one if not necessary. I'm not sure on the changing specs/requirements for HDMI over the last several years).

Any gaps in that configuration that would prevent a positive 3D experience? Thanks for any input!

Is there any particular ceiling mount to use or are either the chief or sanus universal mount what I should choose?

I think I'm also going to jump on the bandwagon and order one this week.

I've got a mounting question. My ceiling is 10' and the top of my screen (100") will be about 7' (ceiling is angled at the front of the room). I plan on using a 12" extension to clear a ceiling fan and throw distance will be about 16'. Will the vertical lens shift be enough to get good positioning on the screen? It looks like it should be able to shift plenty (about 4'), but I've seen some comments stating that the lens should be even with the top of the screen. Do I really need a longer extension or will I be OK with the 12"?

Thanks for any advice!

Pretty sure a longer extension will be required.

I am taking delivery of this projector soon. As my screen dimensions were limited more horizontally that vertically, I opted for a powered16:9 screen to maximize my available screen real estate.

When viewing letterboxed movies, I'd like to take advantage of the automatic lens shift to lower the image so that it is at the bottom of the screen. Is that pretty common, or are there disadvantages to doing that? I was thinking that sometimes subtitles appear below the image in the letterbox area. Is that a concern?

Thanks.

Your PJ is not square to the screen turn it clock wise or counter clock wise on the pole. One way will make it better the other worse. I use D cenmia with fan on economic for 3D and normal fan on normal for 3D total light control
